I think we should all just move to the TV Threads. The show is almost here so discussion is needed in there. Also, the new trailer came out today so lets talk about it in that thread. Dragons!!

But I don't watch it until the BD release.

The commentary for Episode 10 The Children hosted by Peter, Nick, and Lena was horrid. One of the worst commentaries Ive ever listened to. Not really their fault tho. That episode had very little to do with their characters and they have very little to talk about. Lena and Pete had a couple funny moments tho.

There are at least 3 Game of Thrones Threads in the TV section, One for Spoilers of upcoming seasons, one for the current season and another one... THAT is a series that NEEDS multiple threads, as evidenced by this one thread alone!

Same happened to me, although I did contact hbo through the hbosupport e-mail address they have yet to reply, they didn't even give me any reply that they received my e-mail message, and this is three days ago...

Yeah i was expecting a lot more from that set of actors, I mean when they spoke a majority of the time it was hilarious but there were several silent moments throughout which just made me forget I even was listening to their track.

Really enjoying watching it all again! Had only seen each boxset once, and that was on release, so hadn't seen Season 1&2 for 2 years (bought a double boxset as was late getting into the show) and season 3 only last year. Did see Season 4 on streaming when the season was on air. It was getting more and more harder to hide from the spoilers (had the entire plot for The Red Wedding spoilt quite earlier on!!)
Watched Season 2 episode 2 last night, man - they are so good!! But looong episodes!!!

Just trying to convince my good ladyfriend to get into it so we can watch it together! She's struggling with Season 1 just now.

Finally watched this. Much better than season three, more stuff happens and it gets to the point more often. Arya and Jon's stories still feel season three-like though, it takes them all season to do very little really.

Anyway... main reason I wanted to bump this was the video quality. I get that it is 100% accurate to the source, but is anyone else irked that something with this much digital noise in many dark scenes gets a 5 out of 5? I know it's inherent to the digital cameras being used, but man it looks nasty sometimes.

There's probably a debate on this somewhere I would love to read, if anyone has a link.

It's UV (Vudu or Flixster) + iTunes + Google Play (if you redeem this last)

Yep, you should get 3 redemptions that way. I've successfully redeemed either iTunes or UV first, it's just seems to be Google Play needs to be last to get all 3 redemptions.

Yeah I noted that elsewhere - some dark scenes definitely werent reference/perfect at all. Im sure season 1 was slightly better? The PQ is excellent overall but Im not sure its the very top tier.

Picture Quality was damn near perfect in Season One.
Season Two is where Picture Quality started to drop!

I thought the same thing, although it seems strange. Season 1 is the best looking TV show blu I've got, but the others are subtly inferior.

Yeah, after I watches season four finally I went back and re-watched season one and was surprised it looked so much better. Much less problems in the dark areas. I can only guess they changed some crew members that handled the digital cameras better than the new guys do.

With regard to the PQ difference starting with S2 - as I've mentioned before, they changed the color grading process after S1. They wanted to bring out more colors (you can easily see the difference). I suspect this affected the black levels, which were incredibly solid on S1.

Still, I've continued to be more than pleased with the PQ of each season, and I admit I haven't experienced the "messy" digital noise described in previous posts.

Rains of Castamere is a good episode to see it in. When the Starks arrive and meet Fray in the beginning and during many later dark scenes the large black areas are a little too light and have a lot of noise.

Not the end of the world, and I am used to it with digitally shot TV shows, I just wish each season wasn't heralded as the best PQ ever.

Hmm, I've watch the episode numerous times and never noticed. Perhaps you have a bigger screen than I (or perhaps sit closer).
