I'm going to skip the Root Dungeons considering they're always randomized apparently, well, I'll do that one you mentioned earlier. It seems like it's the highest level and the drops are good. I think I've finished just about all of the main ones.
Started NG+ and was burning through it last night. Sent the old woman to the Chapel and the girl(who doesn't make it of course). I must say that Father Gascoigne was a lot easier this time around despite the game difficulty increasing. It wasn't just because I knew what to expect but I had no idea using the music box early makes him transform. This time he didn't change until he only had a quarter of life left. Once he changed I used the box and it was lights out for him. ![]() |

I seem to be clueless regarding what story items do what. ![]() I beat the father in NG+. It was a complete slaughter fest. I think the fight lasted around 40 seconds. ![]() |

How much stronger would you guys say the mobs/ bosses appear to be in NG+?
Some people say that traditionally in the Souls series it's about 40% more dmg/ HP, but at least for starter zones that doesn't seem like much (after leveling up and upgrading weapons). |

In case you want to find her for the same reason I did, I missed getting her badge for the weapon on first playthrough, you can fight and kill her for it if you don't care about playing out her storyline. Yeah, 40% was the increase for the Souls games so I imagine it's not much different for this one. I just leveled up so much in the Dungeons that it's making NG+ not that much harder than the first run through. |

I'm at the giant cathedral (even though I went past it to the charnel area) but I still have like no idea what I'm doing or what is going on in the story.
anyone have any tips? I just got ludwigs holy blade and upgraded it but still feel like the cleaver is better. just switched to the repeating pistol but it goes through ammo so fast. |

I think the church is kind of a dead end for you right now. Forbidden Woods will take you to Shadow of Yharnam then Lecture Hall and Rom. You'll be well above level 40 by the time you get there.

where are the NPCs looking for safe haven? I don't think I've found one that I can remember and I'm past the first two bosses. I beat The Father on my first try somehow but I seem to suck.

The old lady is near the dog kennels. You cross that tiny arch bridge and her house is right on your left, there will be a lantern on outside.

House near the dog cages has the old woman Two houses at the lower end of the road during your first trip to the Cathedral, when you have to bypass the cemetery with the two giants, because it's locked, just past the first enemy you encounter with the flame sprayer, I believe, you will find Arianna on one side and the guy who calls you a liar on the other. My PS4 power settings shut it down for me to day. Forgot about that. So no memory drain bonus. That's okay, though, I usually check out Drive Club first, as I can't drive once the adrenalin gets flowing. |

I feel like I explore everything and none of that even sounds familiar. I hate not having a map. I feel like I play late at night and once I accomplish something I quit. Then the next day I forget everything. Last night I died to some guy with a shield and electric mace, this morning started up and found a lamp past great cathedral in the charnel something or other but never once ran into that electric guy again. Not sure where the hell he was.

This is a collection of the story (based on the hints dropepd throughout the game and a hefty dose of guesses as well) up to the time when the game starts made by someone on Gamefaq: I don't agree with all points, but it gives a decent idea aobut how everything took a turn for the worst in Yarnham. Quote:
What we DO know for sure is that as The Hunter (player) arrives in Yarnham, looking for a remedy to his incurable sickness, a Hunt for beasts is going on in the streets. <what follows is my current understanding> All the events unravelling from that point forward seem to have been ordained by Great Ones (terrifying gigantic alien creatures), which are kept hidden from sight by an effect cast by a creature named Rom, who lives in his own pocket dimension, well hidden. Their goal, in particular this very night of the Blood Moon, is the creation of a new Great One new born, an event which has been preordained (a "womb" is supposed to be granted this "privilege", in effect a woman is supposed to give birth to an Alien creature this very night). At the very beginning of the story you were "temporarily" helped by an injection of (contaminated) blood, but as your rescuer mentions, you will need to find "Pale Blood" to save yourself. The Church oversees the ministration of blood, so getting to the Healing Church and finding someone who can help is your first goal. Eventually you find out that most if not all Church Clerics as well as their own order of hunters (Executioneers) have been contaminated by plagued blood ("Beware of the Old Blood"?) and turned into beast or driven mad and locked in a conflict with Cainhurst (a clan led by Queen Annalise from Cainhurst castle) which uses "vile blood" for their own purposes. A third clan of Hunters tries to bring back order (Hunters of Hunters - cf Eileen the Crow) but they are few and outgunned, even though the Vilebloods have now been decimated. Most other Hunters attack on sigh, unless they can see you are part of their covenant. Eileen is a rarity, but you have to introduce yourself early on. At first you fight the now monstruous Clerics and their Hunters (The Beast, Father Gascione, Blood Starved Beast, Vicar Amelia) but soon find out that must more sinister forces are at play that at one time the Church tried to suppress and study (closing down the Academy that studied these ancient forces, forbidding entrance to Hemwick Charnel Lane, and the old woods leading to Byrgenwerth itself), perhaps even ending up worshipping them. You find out that a coven of Witches in Hemwick Lane worship said forces, shadows having risen under their spells, and while forbidden practices are at play in Yarnham itself to master the Great Ones blood (Iosefka's clinic), you find an Ancient One when finally travelling to Byrgenwerth and end up killing him, revealing to all the truth behind the veil it had been casting. You continue to investigate, searching for a cure, now fighting Ancient Alien Gods themselves, but throughout it all you cannot help wonder if with each victory and each breakthrough in understanding it all throughout new insights ... You are not in fact one step closer to bringing a sinister and very old plan to fruition ... as an ethereal baby's cry can be heard resonating throughout Yarnham.
