It's only about $16 shipped too http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/product/BLU-11458
Does anyone here own this, and how is the image because I can't find any reviews for it on here?

I own the region free Arrow Obsession and it looks/sounds great.

I have the ARROW and MGM releases of Dressed to Kill, Im sure Ill retire of them when the Criterion release comes out. Its one of my all time favorites, and is one film I dont mind owning more than one release of. I admit that although Im not much for double dipping, some films are *immune* to that
I have to be cost conscious as well since the market is getting over saturated with first time ever BD releases that I want.

Comparison of the Netherlands disc to DVD. NL disc should be identical to the JP one, as they're both from Sony. Looks really good in my opinion

So as of now, I believe these are the only Brian De Palma directed films not on blu-ray anywhere: Greetings, Hi Mom, Get to Know Your Rabbit, Home Movies, Wise Guys, Raising Cain, and Femme Fatale.

De Palma directed movies not available in Region A: Sisters, Obsession, Casualties of War, Mission to Mars, and Redacted.

Then you've got Body Double and The Fury which were released in Region A by Twilight Time that are out of print, but are available from other regions.

Well, Edgar Wright stopped by Criterion's offices last month...maybe a Wright/De Palma conversation. (and maybe for Carrie(if it happens) a Del Toro/De Palma conversation? )

edit: I should also mention that this appears to be the extended cut, which is about 6 mins longer

Differences between cuts: http://www.movie-censorship.com/report.php?ID=2840
It only contains the theatrical cut. The packaging did say extended cut originally, but that was a mistake.

Don't know that I would retire the Arrow disc. It's crammed with extras, some of which will probably not be carried over to the Criterion.

I received it a few days ago, but haven't had time to view it yet. In case you're considering ordering it, just be aware that the artwork has changed slightly for the JP version, if that matters:

You sure? The bd-info from Cap-a-holics link shows the runtime to be 1 hr 53 mins, which is in line with the extended cut

Edit: nm, movie censorship's runtimes threw me off. The theatrical is 113 mins, the extended 121 (movie censorship had 108, and 114 mins respectively)

Probably best to put AlexIlDottore on your ignore list, he's a very unpleasant person.

Anyhow, I love DTK but I do wish Criterion would release stuff that hasn't had a decent Blu release before.

Totally agree with you on that one. It's one of my favorites from him. At least we did get a really good looking disc a couple of years ago...probably the biggest improvement I've seen comparing a dvd to a blu-ray disc.

slimdude is more ignore-worthy IMO. He frequently trolls the forums blabbing about things where he doesn't even know what he's talking about. Any re-release that isn't a UHD disc isn't an upgrade? Utter nonsense.

I agree with this. They have so many films in their collection, not to mention all these recent acquisitions from other studios, at this rate they are never going to get to some of my favorites before the format fades away....

I wish they would come up with an ECLIPSE program for lesser marketable titles on no frills Blus.

I am happy to hear this but at the same time a little annoyed because now I will have to double dip on this title.

One of the few (maybe the only) instance(s) where the studio has given a home video release something resembling original theatrical art.
I would love to see them do Carrie.

Not saying this is totally pointless, as I'm sure certain fans of the film have neither the Arrow nor MGM release, but it seems like Criterion could use the limited resources they have better by not releasing native English titles that already have acceptable or fantastic blu-ray releases in region A and B respectively already.

I don't have Dressed to Kill on BluRay, so I think this is awesome news. If you guys don't want Criterion to waste resources on a Dressed to Kill BD, spend more money on non-Dressed to Kill BDs. Criterion will look at the profits of non-Dressed to Kill BDs and be encouraged to release more BDs that are not, in fact, Dressed to Kill.

In this case does "extended cut" actually mean "director's cut?"
