Quote:
After his tribe is slaughtered through an act of treachery, Hongi, a Maori chieftain's teenage son, must avenge his father's murder in order to bring peace and honor to the souls of his loved ones. If you like Apocalypto then you'll dig this

I think it threw a lot of people when it was released last year, with most pre release press angled towards being a historically accurate tale. It's not. It's a fantasy action film built around some general Maori themes

I'm certainly looking forward to it. The German release comes out the same day too.

I went to the TIFF premiere. The Q+A and the tribal dancing was better than the film imo. The fire alarm went off as well It just felt generic and unoriginal, and I feel like it could have done more, especially with the subject matter and the actors involved.

Don't reject watching it because of me, everyone else in the audience loved it.

Watched this last night and was blown away, great film. Seems to be region-free as well, as it worked in my Region-A set player.

Default The Dead Lands Reviews?

Lordcrumb - Have you received your AU/NZ BD copy yet? I have been looking forward to your review of it. I have the DE version on its way and will report on it soon.

Nah mate, $NZ40 is past my new release limit. I very rarely pay that for any new title. $NZ25 max sort of thing. Especially when I don't know the specs or if they have any special features.

Was this the DE or AU/NZ disc? More disc details would be appreciated

FWIW - You can purchase it from JB Hi-fi (AU) for $28.23au, including shipping to NZ. That would be about $30nz.

The AU/NZ disc. It's a pretty basic affair - no extras as I recall.

Or you could wait 3-4 months when it's down to $19NZD and nab it

Would anyone have picked up the local release? I would be interested in bdinfo/bitrate scan in comparison to the US one which I ended up purchasing.
