Gotta say, as a former hard-core PC gamer, our whole family loves the Wii system. It really connects us as a family, and we can all just play & have fun together.
Seeing as hibernating is the number one winter sport here in MN, I’m sure we’ll be getting lots of use from it. ![]() |

I've had a 360 since launch (well, not the exact one....I think I'm on my third replacement unit) and a a PS3 for about 9 months. For me, I would still take the 360 over the PS3, mainly for the selection of games and because I cannot get comfortable with the dual-shock controller. Yes, even though I've had 3 units that had to be sent back, I still prefer the 360. I've really tried to like the PS3, but the controller kills it for me. Now, if the games were all available on both platforms and I could use a 360 controller, I would definitely lean toward the PS3.

I say Ps3. My brother had a 360 and it was fun. You should check out the exclusives for the ps3 and 360. Most games have gone multi-platform.
You can also upgrade the HDD on the Ps3. http://ps3.gamespy.com/index/release.html - PS3 game release dates http://gamereleases.teamxbox.com/ - 360 game release dates compare specs and prices http://reviews.cnet.com/consoles/son...1355103-4.html |

OKay, I see there are a lot of people here who love sony and hate microsoft so I will try to give a very unbiased opinion on both systems.
Xbox 360 I'll start with the games it has out and upcoming that you may want to look at: Grand Theft auto 4 plus exclusive downloadables (GTA4 also on ps3) Devil May Cry 4 (Also on ps3) Viva Pinata (Very fun game so don't judge until you try it ![]() Gears of war Gears of war 2 (November 7th 2008) Fable 2 (RPG out before the end of the year) Oblivion (also on ps3) Ninja Gaiden 2 Halo 3 Call of duty 4 (also on ps3) Mass Effect (An amazing RPG) Bioshock (exclusive until october i belive is when it comes out on ps3) Crackdown Dead Rising (This game is no longer being made due to some legal battle) Prey Rock Band (also on ps3) Forza 2 Project Gotham Racing 4 Eternal Sonata Resident Evil 5 (Feb 2009 Also on ps3) Final Fantasy 13 (also on ps3) Splinter cell 5 tons of arcade games to choose from as well I am sure i am missing other games but that is what i can think of off the top of my head. The Online The online is very good. Easy to talk with friends. Can have 1 on 1 chats while in a game. Universal Invite system. The online is very consistant from game to game in preformance. Also in game music for any game. Very easy to use. I love xbox live. The system Well, I found it unreliable, i have had 5 systems get the Ring of death so that is why i got a ps3. But the newer systems are a lot better and cheaper too. So if you like the game selection and online this is a very good system. Also you should check what other games are out for it since i am not sure what you are into. Onto the PS3. The games Metal Gear solid 4 Grand Theft auto 4 Call of duty 4 Devil May Cry 4 hot shots golf Folklore(rpg) Motorstorm Motorstorm 2 (this fall) Resistance Resistance 2 (this fall) little big planet (this october) Ninja Gaiden sigma Uncharted Drakes fortune Ratchet and Clank Warhawk Killzone 2 (feb 2009) Resident evil 5 (Feb 2009) Bioshock (this fall) That's all i can remember right now. I am sure there are more as well so you may want to double check. The online Well, it is getting better. I do not like that it does not have universal invite or 1 on 1 chat. But they are on the way from what i have heard. The Playstation store is nice. The online from game to game is a bit iffy. But for the most part pretty solid. The in game XMB is a nice feature now to text in game. But almost nothing else is supported, in game music is only supported if the developer allows it. So it is not as strong as Xbox live, but it does hold its ground and will continue to grow. The system. Very reliable, the 40gigs are nice a quiet, added Blu-ray is a bonus for some. Just as a game console it is very good. If you want all the extra media stuff it can do such as slide shows and what not it is nice. So there you have it. Both systems have great games, it just depends on what exclusives you want mostly. also get the system your friends have, it's also nice to play with friends. Hope this helped. PS3. I'll tell you why and its all from experience. I owned both systems (just sold off my 360) and while initially I felt the 360 was superior that feeling kept dwindling until at last I felt the PS3 had caught up to and passed it. Now this is coming from an ex-xbox fanboy dating all the way back to the original xbox. I always bought multiplatform games for xbox and then the 360 this generation. The xbox 360 hardware is just not reliable. I know too many people who have gotten the red rings of death. Also, no matter what anybody says about online service the 360's live is not anything special and the games have been overrun by little kids and teenagers doing nothing but yelling and cussing into their mics the whole game ruining the experience. For those who like to brag about LIVE being better, well if F*ckin should be since you pay $50 a year for it. PS3 online service is free and virtually has all the same downloads and content as LIVE.
I feel that the PS3 is catching on and that before too long developers will be using it to make the games on and then porting them to the 360 instead of the other way around like it is now. Long story short, buy PS3. I'm off the Microsoft/xbox 360 train and likely ain't getting back on anytime soon if ever unless their new console in a few years is mindblowing. |

This game is easily found as a platinum hits title. And its coming out on the Wii in the near future, so whatever legal battle there is with Romero, it isn't preventing a port (or whatever it is)

I owned a 360 and thought it was the cat's ass while regularly bashing the PS3 for it's pricing and lack of games. However, I really wanted to play Heavenly Sword and I am a huge God of War fan, so I knew I'd need to play GoW 3. I eventually broke down and got the PS3 and haven't looked back since. It has tremendously fewer hardware problems and put me much more at ease not having the Sword of Damocles hanging over my system in the form of the RROD. It also runs whisper quite, contrary to the jet engine noise of the 3fixme which I could hear even over my TV. I can mute my TV and still not hear my PS3. And now the games are coming out at a good pace with several must haves filling the library. I would still like to play Mass Effect again and its sequels as well as Fable 2, but that is the only draw the Xbox has for me outside of the controller which I prefer. Plus having WiFi and Blu-ray included for far less than similar additions would be on the Xbox is a huge bonus. I can also (and have done so) upgrade my hard drive to whatever size my heart desires, for far cheaper than the 1 or 2 options Xbox owners have. And let's not forget the FREE online play. I don't play online, so I certainly wouldn't pay for it. But I've been experimenting with it starting with Soul Calibur 4 simply because it IS free. You also don't get charged for themes and wallpapers. All in all, having owned both, I would definitely recommend the PS3

I've had two 360's (gone now) and two live accounts, still have my Wii and my PS3.
For gaming this is how I'd rank them: PS3... 360........................... Wii The reason I still have the Wii and not a 360 is one I bought the Wii for my wife, two it really is a different gaming system where the PS3 and 360 overlap a ton on games. Wii is better for the non-gamers who play Wiisports, etc. That said I rarely play the Wii by myself and if I had all the time in the world I'd still own all three. PS3 simply has more of the exclusive games that I enjoy though both have more than enough games. Future line up definitely favors the PS3 as well. Keep in mind I'm also an audio video whoring home theater enthusiasts, meaning I do care about having the best graphics and sound to go along with the gameplay. The PS3 really shines in that area when it comes to their exclusive games. Top notch visuals and aural experiences like Uncharted, Motorstorm, GT5: Prologue, Ratchet and Clank, etc ![]() First party PS3 games (Resistance, Motorstorm, etc ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by Monkey; 08-13-2008 at 05:00 PM. |
