To each their own, imo opinion it was worth the £40 I paid for it....sure, it's shorter than it should be with plenty of cutscenes but it really is a great looking game and I enjoyed every minute of playing it

Played the first chapter of this, after the initial awe from the graphics wore off I was surprised by how bland the gameplay was. Even as we started fighting werewolves and using guns that shot lightning. It's also so bloody dark, as in literally, it looked washed out as hell as a result but I ended up turning up the gamma all the way up just so I could see what I was shooting at. The world and the characters seem worth it to keep playing for now.

Yeah. I turned it back down again outside of combat but never as low as the game sets it as, I dunno why it wants to hide the visuals under so much shadow.

How is the gamma trackin on your tv? Also how good are your black levels? (i'm assuming you have everything set right from the ps4).

To be fair my TV is pretty shite but it does the job. Lots of uniformity issues, shite blacks and loads of leakage. I got it cheap so I never bothered with the extra cost of having it calibrated professionally.

@Pizzamorg

I have played the game and its no where ever looked washed out to me at all. Not even in gameplay. In fact most of the time I thought its a cut scene but turned out to be the gameplay so visually this game is stunning without a doubt. I didnt have to change my TV settings at all.

I dunno whether everyone has misread my post or if I'm just going crazy? All I said was when I turned the gamma all the way up to see what I was shooting at it resulted in the game looking washed out, which is obviously gonna happen when you ram the gamma to the max. I was then dropping it down in non combat sections to better appreciate the visuals, although never as dark as low as the game has it set as standard as it's way too bloody dark. Those annoyances aside, this is the best looking video game I've ever played.

On chapter four now, enjoying the game a lot more now, it's tough but never tough to the point of frustration and I loved how desperate I got at points during the rebel waves, switching from sniper to running around with a shotgun. I felt so friggin badass as well when all the knights teamed together. Could do with more guns like the Thermite one, though.

My TV is the same. I have to set the in-game video settings to the brightest for ALL games in order for me to see anything. I no longer touch the TV settings because then the colors start to wash out.
I have tried the different pre-sets the TV came with (ie: Game, Sports, Cinema), but for some reason its really just video games where it is too dark.

Yeah, normally games come with a brightness setting and I just ram it up and it has no negative effect on the visuals but here since they only have a gamma setting to ram up it seems to wash out the image when you do. I haven't touched my actual TV settings for months as it's perfect for movies, games are always just too damn dark.

Sounds like they are having "projection" issues. Maybe the lamp is dying.

Do you have your RGB setting at auto, limited or full? For some reason my PS4, under the auto setting, was detecting my TV as full even though it doesn't support it. I had to go in and manually set it to limited. It made a world of difference.

And LOL, I have a projection TV, a Mitsubishi 638 series. Had it for four years now and haven't had to replace a lamp...

Think it's on auto, I'll go set it to limited and see if it makes a difference.

ooh, I will try that out. Because I experience game darkness on both the PS3 and PS4. They are both set to full.

for reference, my TV is an LCD Sony Bravia.

I changed it to limited and the game was certainly much brighter, even on the darker in game settings, but that just made it more prone to washing out, so maybe it really is the game.

I completed another chapter, the gameplay is really mediocre - I hate all the quick time events and how bland all the shooting is between those brief moments you get to use really cool weapons. But similar to my all time favourite game, BioShock, I'm so immersed in this games world and I'm enjoying all the characters and stuff I want to keep pushing through every yawn inducing quick time ridden combat section to the next moment of downtime to see what happens next.

Same. I treat this as I do a movie...its fun to play on occasion. Granted, this is a game and with the exception of the first level or so, it plays like one, but its very linear....and no replay value.

That said, glad I own it - its pretty great in its own right.

I promise you it's not, one of the things TO got bang on was the graphics and balance, they haven't made such a school boy error as that. I would suggest investigating your TV more, is it old?
