Unless you point is , that they ARE trying to confuse people and make them buy regular dvds and thinking they are blu rays, even though they are in much larger cases? I dont get your point. Also you said standard clear cases...WTF is that? Ive only seen standard black cases.
yeah.. sorry... needed my morning coffee... "black" cases that is...

either way, I understand there are different colored cases, and they "exist" (so 10 out of 3,000 is a "ton" ??? ) I've never really looked for them, but the OP said he saw a lot of them, so either

1) he's more focused on it now

or

2) they are releasing more Standard DVDs in blue cases (as he's stating)

I know there is an Orange VHS, and even a Green one..... but I wouldn't say they released "a ton of colored VHS"

No 10 out of the 3000 i own isnt a ton, but ive seen ALOT more at the stores. Typically they are kids movies though, so I dont usually buy them. Colored cases are nothing new.

Again... I agree.... I know there are colored cases, and have been for some time.

To the OP, maybe you're more perceptive to the color of the case now, or perhaps there truely are more being released. Obviously older releases shouldn't be looked at, but I'd curious to examine the number of newer releases not using the standard black cases in comparison to the past.

It could also just be a larger strategy, since companies try to differentiate their products to add preceived value, and the color of the case is a cheap way to do that.... even cheaper than slip-covers etc... Fletch had a release with a lenticular cover etc....

It would be interesting to see if it's one studio in particular that is doing it too
