Sorry, that was supposed to be a comma on the end... not a period... it should have read:

...which is a total trash-heap, much like everything else in Killeen...

Its funny that you guys mention kmart. Here all the Kmarts are trashy as hell and run down, but when i go to my parents house in vegas the kmarts are head and shoulders above walmart. They are always super clean, everythings new and looks like it just opened even though its been there for almost 10 years. I hope you all find that as interesting as i do.

I dont mind that K-Mart does not price match, but if they are clearing inventory to close a store, dont mark it down to more than Amazon/walmart.

I was just thinking we don't have any K-Marts by me either. We had one left and after a tornado touched down and went through Prattville, Alabama it got wiped out so they sent letters to all their empoyees telling them they would not reopen and they no longer had jobs. I thought that was so nice of them to care about their workers like that. Some of those employees lost their homes in that same storm.
I would love to see K-Mart, Walmart and a lot of these big box retailers go out of business since it was them that drove most of the mom and pop businesses out of business. That's what I would call Karma. I shop at small mom and pops whenever I can in my neck of the woods. I don't go to big box stores just to save a buck. Just my 2 cents.

Unfortunately, the big box discount retailer concept has firmly built itself into the economy. Lots of people simply can't afford to go pay more for products carried at an independent retailer. The cost difference really balloons when it comes to something like a couple weeks worth of groceries for a family. Wal-Mart continues to build more Supercenters due to that.

Speaking of K-Mart, the one in my city isn't bad at all. Pretty clean, well organized store. Still, I don't buy things like movies on Blu-ray there simply because K-Mart charges significantly more for them than Wal-Mart or online retailers like Amazon.com. I don't know how the store stays in business. The parking lot is rarely ever more than 1/3 full.

I'm stunned K-Mart has hung around this long, even considering the awful condition most of them are in these days. Wal-Mart improved on their basic business model so much it made K-Mart obsolete by the late 80's.
