A lot of people refuse to import, even when it's region free or R1, so I actually agree. That doesn't really change the fact I don't want or need to buy NOTLD again, let alone Scream's own Day of the Dead again. Making me do so in order to get a new version of Dawn would suck, and I can't see why anyone would disagree with that. Just release it separately as well, it's not a big deal.

The Halloween 6 situation sucked too, but luckily I have no interest in Halloween 6 so I didn't have to complain about it.

No doubt. I agree. I do not like the tactic of getting people to buy sets with already released movies to get one or two movies. They should release singles and limited additions sets for fans that want them.

This!

I really like this one. Quite underrated IMO. It kinda feels like a lost, prolonged X-Files episode to me.

Mainstream titles are usually what SF announces at the SDCC, so I feel like thinking big this year and going out on a total limb here- I could be wrong, but who cares
That list be a little bit of a disappointment for me.

Virus isn't Comic Con worthy is it? I know it's based on a comic, but it's a film that has largely been forgotten, and for good reason. Same with the Species sequels; I hope if they do get them they also get the first film and just release a box set, as it is the only way I would buy them. Jeepers Creepers already has a decent release, the second film is the one that got the shaft and is missing all of its DVD extras.

I would be down with half of your list though: Village of the Damned, The Car, The Thing, The Fly II, and Bubba Ho-Tep would all be great releases! I guess The Thing would be huge, but I really hope there is an even bigger surprise like the Phantasm Collection, or the Dead trilogy!

I agree, I hope they release it. I know the Japanese version is out there, but I would prefer an all English version. It blows my mind that there hasn't been an official NA release yet! If they could only find a print with the proper framing!

Then again, I would almost prefer Synapse to grab Night and Dawn because they would give us the best possible releases ever!

Yes, this movie really terrified me in the theater. The director also did Arlington Road, one of the most tense thrillers I've ever seen. What happened to this guy?

Who owns Mothman btw?

My guesses/hopes are;

1. Phantasm box set
2. Species II
3. Village of the Damned (JC'S)
4. Jack Frost (not sure who owns the rights now)
5. Necronomicon
6. Night of the Demons 3
7.Tobe Hooper's Night Terrors
8. Tale of the Vampire
9. Rumpelstiltskin
10. Virus

Admittedly, the majority are wishes

Virus has Jamie Lee Curtis, and Jeff (Scream Factory) is a big fan of hers, so why not ? The director appeared at a comic con to promote it back in 1998/1999. I dont think they will do the first Species since it already has a good BD release as does Jeepers Creepers, but its more a mainstream title. The comic con announcements have had more mainstream titles, which is why I went with them.
The Thing was a total going out on a limb guess, it seems as if Shout has gotten upper tier Universal horrors. Phantasm might be possible now according to Zbinks. A dead trilogy I dont think we are quite there yet.
Of course if Shout does announcements between now and SDCC that would change my predictions depending on the titles

PS - I watched Raising Cain last night and that is a really good flick, maybe that will get announced at some point. Recommended !

The last two "official" masters (1994 Elite and and 40th Anniversary Weinstein) were transferred from the OCN. Going back to anything else at this point, would be a step in the wrong direction, IMO. The framing issues with the Weinstein HD-master should not be inherent to the OCN, itself, as they do not exist on the older Elite transfer.

If you're referring to the widescreen theatrical framing, I'm under the assumption that all available film elements would likely be open-matte. NotLD was not shot with anamorphic lenses, so widescreen aspect ratios were likely achieved during projection with the use of an aperture plate. Recreation of a 1.85:1 or 1.66:1 theatrical experience would likely be more a matter of applying the appropriate masking during the transfer process than seeking out a specific film element.

i was under the impression anchor bay had phantasm 1, 3 and 4.

considering what anchor bay and scream factory were able to accomplish with that halloween box set, i believe it'd stand to reason that the likelihood of a phantasm box set is pretty high. i think image having this is complete b.s.

I don't know where that came from but Image having the Phantasm films doesn't make any sense. The current feeling is that Don Coscarelli controls the rights to Phantasm 1, III and IV, with Universal hanging on to II. Nobody knows if Anchor Bay has retained any distribution rights but if they do, another collaboration with Universal and Scream Factory for a complete set seems probable. I don't see SF releasing a set of all the films except for II just because they already released it. In a perfect world, they'll reissue it with a better encode/transfer and perhaps more extras. This set is almost a given, seeing as the much-anticipated 5th film is already "in the can" and ready for release. Wouldn't make much sense to release it alone (without a tie-in).

They do not, Image apparently picked them up along with a lot of other former Anchor Bay titles. Rights change hands at times. If the director has the Phantasm films that could make them more accessible to Scream Factory
