Thank you - that is exactly what I was referring to. I believe what I watched on Amazon was the Criterion remaster as it was made available around the same time as the iTunes release. I am just antsy and eagerly anticipating the BD release. I didn't want to go for the Arrow release from the UK, if possible. I think the packaging is pretty horrible... and though I have a region-free BD player, I would rather wait it out.

Sorry again for any confusion. But thank you for the response.

Oh well..
i will be eagerly waiting for the opinions of Criterion collectors that will watch Jellyfish eyes, in case it turns out to be a masterpiece (or at least a very important film) that Criterion fairly chose to release.
You know what I'd love to see Criterion do, in regards to an animated film? Fund the rest of the money, so Satoshi Kon's Dreaming Machine can be finished. Criterion could fund it for sure, and bonus, they'd get the rights to distribute it upon completion.

A child actress I would like to see enter the collection is another French lass, Victoire Thivisol, who at the age of four gave a staggering and totally amazing performance as a child trying to come to terms with the loss of her mother in the wonderful Ponette (1996). Thivisol was the youngest actress ever to win the Best Actress award at the Venice Film Festival. If her name doesn't ring any bells, she is probably better known for her later role as Juliette Binoche's young daughter in Chocolat (2000).
I'm totally with you on this one. What an amazing, affective, sensitive film Saw it 20 years ago and remember it clearly. Ponette so needs to be in the collection.

Default What's with Barnes and Noble?

So has anyone else tried filling up their shopping cart before the next B&N sale? Because for the past few days, every time I search "Criterion", they only reveal 66 titles.

Surely this is a faulty site problem....right? Because surely that's not...that's not all they're selling for Criterions anymore.....right...????

Got The Killers blu-ray early. Watched the original for the first time and I was surprised and disappointed by the lack of screentime between Burt Lancaster and Ava Gardner. Definitely not what I expected based on the poster:

Still a great film though and it has one of the best opening sequence that I've seen in a film-noir. Really need to see it again now that I know how it's structured, because I kept longing for more Lancaster/Gardner after enjoying their first scene so much.

They were confined to an apartment for 14 years and learned predominately through watching films. I think we can let it slide.

I wouldn't be greedy - I would take a few that I'm desperate for, the rest I need I'll work for and pay for myself.

I prefer working for my own stuff rather than being given it and not appreciating it as much as I can.

Besides I'd be too busy grabbing those posters they have and trying to get the hell out of there lol

I'd trade my entire vinyl record collection for the Criterion closet.

That's a reissue poster from '56. Both Lancaster and Gardner were superstars by that time and the rerelease poster reflects that with the huge image of them and gives them top billing in the credits. The original poster did show them embracing but in a smaller portrait and Gardner was billed behind Edmund O'Brien while Lancaster received a "introducing" credit.

Finally got around to ordering Che. And with that, I'm going to need to slow down for a bit. I've been ordering stuff at a rapid pace lately.

I'm really looking forward to finally seeing it, and the review on this site is spectacular. I might make an entire day out of watching it and Carlos.
