Extras dont interest me as much as PQ - I dont mind having extras but I would much rather have outstanding PQ

I got impatient earlier this week and decided to take the Final Exam for the TCM Film Noir course. After I passed the final, missing only one question, I went ahead and submitted an extremely favorable User Survey.

This Film Noir course has been a lot of fun, although I was not able to devote near the time that I should have devoted to it, due to buying a new home and moving into the home during the past month and a half. I still learned quite a bit, though, and I particularly enjoyed the analyses provided by the Daily Dose installments, which I'm still enjoying this week.

That is sadly why I didn't sign up for it, I knew I wouldn't be able to deveote my full attention to it. Plus, for me at least, I don't feel like I learn anything online. I need to be in a physical classroom with physical people and an actual teacher there talking to really accomplish anything.

I have been taking this course also. I took the final exam last Sunday and just completed the final survey a few minutes ago. It was a good course ... and some fun too. I learned a lot! I've been aware of Film Noir for many years, but never really took the time to understand or appreciate it. I look forward to watching many of the films covered in the Daily Doses with a new exuberance that wouldn't be there without taking the course.

I feel like I put many hours into the course each week, doing most of the reading material and video lectures on the same day I took the weekly quizzes. That being said, I would have liked to have spent much more time interacting with fellow students on the boards, but there are so many other activities going on in the summer months where I live (we don't get warm weather here too often), that it wasn't possible. Still, I managed to do well on the tests. Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks? (Woof, woof).

As a result of the course, I also find myself buying more Film Noir blu-rays lately ... among all the other favorite genres. This blu-ray hobby can be expensive and time-consuming. But it sure is FUN when you have a passion for it ... like I assume everybody on these boards must have, or we wouldn't be here in the first place.

Hmm, might have to see if I can wait for BFI as their extras look better to me. I don't think I could stand a delay with this one though if it happened. Either way, great announcements.

My thoughts exactly. I don't like being rushed to buy them from Twilight Time, but, on the other hand, these are movies that I'll want to buy on day one anyway. I'm glad that the Fox film noirs are seeing the light of day, at any rate.

I also took the test and also got 39 out of 40.

Loved the course and I hope they manage some other great film courses in the years to come.

Here are the films my wife and I managed to watch for the course: http://letterboxd.com/tedprior/list/...r-of-darkness/

It was tricky because we are in a country where most of these aren't available and we don't have access to TCM.

We're not done watching noirs though, my wife wants to keep going through the ones we own that weren't included in TCMs line-up.

Ill throw in Murder My Sweet, The Set Up, Out of the Past, Gun Crazy, Fallen Angel, Nightmare Alley and the very first Noir (at least considered to be anyway) Stranger on the Third Floor

What? No. It was part of the German expressionism movement. Like other films from that movement, it did have some influence on film noir

I'll add KISS ME DEADLY (1956) to the list. If you're not familiar with it, try to avoid all research and just watch it "cold."
