I didnt feel right about this release either so Im cancelling it and adding to my wishlist on Amazon. I really dont know what to make of this really, but it just doesnt look right to me and the reviews for this just arent doing anything for me.

Now Im nervous about what they will do with The Brood and Mulholland Drive

Maybe those will be okay since they're 1.85:1.

Judging by the comments here it sounds like it's been a damn fine day for Arrow

If only I could convince my wife that we need to replace our blu-ray player with a region free one.

Ahhh, I'll wait and see if Criterion fixes this..because if they do it should look better than the Arrow one.

Just do what I do when I decide I/we need a new player - suddenly the old one just stops working.......

They did. Transfer was Approved and supervised by Director. Unless you think Criterion just lies about this. I have to assume something went wrong between the transfer and production process.

I wish Criterion would chime in with something other then 'supervised by Depalma'

What you do is break it without her knowing you intentionally did it and say hey hunny since we need a new player we might as well go region free.

I'm assuming that the Arrow release is preferred over the MGM release because of the extras right?

The transfers look the same judging from the screencaps.

I think it has to do with having the original audio mix.

There isn't nothing else for Criterion to say, and I'm surprised they've commented on the issue at all. It is what it is! If a person doesn't want it, then buy the Arrow or the MGM release and move on.

Have the Arrow disc, and that will suffice for me, unless Criterion does a replacement program for what sounds like a HORRIBLY botched release. Nice new extras, but the movie is what's most important.

Just more proof that Criterion does not live up to all the hype.

As with all DVD Labels, its takes a few days to process everything before a conclusion is made and then *make a statement* as was the case with Madhouse from Kino. They need to assess everything first. It is very possible that Criterion could be having internal discussions about Dressed to Kill - they do read these posts and Im sure cancelled sales doesnt sit well for them especially on a title as big as this one ...

I could get this in the future depending on what the situation is with it but right now I am not comfortable spending 30.00 on a possibly botched release. I already have the MGM and Arrow blurays anyway

Out of hundreds and hundreds of releases, only a handful or two are problematic. Criterion does live up to the hype; this is just one instance in which something went wrong.

Default A Rare Criterion Blunder

Without being at all technical, quite simply the Criterion screen caps from DVD Beaver for me illustrated a less natural looking image. Improved sharpness benefiting from the 4K resolution is noted, but unnaturally BRIGHT in my view. Arrow's look most natural. But hey, if DePalma says this is how he wants to look, that's fine. But from what my eyes see, this is an (uncharacteristic and rare) misfire for Criterion and a pity.

I actually really like the way the Criterion release looks compared to the other two, with the exception of the squishing and all.
