My feelings on the early buzz: I'm not sold. Slashfilm had articles on both The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Green Lantern, and both movies didn't turn out great. These early fan screenings are usually amped up with free things, making it hard to want to say a bad thing about the film. As someone who has been to free screenings, you actually start to lose your critical eye because they give you free food, free gifts, and just hype you up before it starts. That normally plays into how you enjoy the movie.

Now, the movie could still end up being good. But for now, the early buzz doesn't sway me one way or another.

I enjoy Green Lantern too. I loved the space stuff. It was gorgeous to look at. It's not the greatest, like the other guy said, but it isn't anywhere near the worst either.

And I still like the Transformers movies, love AoE, so butthurt is not my problem. I'm just going to list a couple of things that I do kind of like about this new F4 before it's released. My expectations are still low enough, but I do like…

Jaime Bell - Great to see the guy in something big again.

The VFX - They certainly should be an upgrade to the originals with a decade's worth of advancements in CGI to bring the powers to life.

I never pointed you out as being someone who was butthurt over Transformers so I'm not sure why you responded exactly.

I was just being in general. I would never accuse you of singling me out. I was just saying in general that fanboy butthurt over anything does not ruin a movie for me if I like it. It will be the same here. IF Fantastic 4 or Fan4stic or whatever they are calling it turns out to be something other than awful then all the butthurt of fanboys will not mean a thing. To me. Or you for that matter, or anyone who goes to see this and MIGHT end up actually liking it. I have shifted my stance on it to "cautiously optimistic". I think that's the best description. I'm truly sorry if you thought I was slighting you as that was not my intent. Peace?

I didn't think you were slighting me at all, I just was curious as to where you were coming from in your reply but you just now explained it better.

Maybe I could have been better in the first post and saved the hassle? I can sometime just pick a post and reply and give like no context and this can lead to butthurt of a very different kind. So yeah… I am now "cautiously optimistic" and all I really want this movie to deliver is a good time. That's all I'm there for with these movies and if it turns out to be even better than that, I can hope, then all the better.

Yep!!

FF back to Marvel, X-Men stand on their own. Best of both worlds IMO. You guys get a more comic book style FF back in the MCU and the X-Men get to stay in their separate and more grounded film universe. I honestly think that's best for everyone, including Fox.

Marvel had one major black spot on their record with the Mandarin; Fox has had a string of them over the years. Both of the prior "Fantastic Four" films had major problems, the only true-to-source aspect being the writing and casting of Johnny and Ben. Many different characters in the "X-Men" films have been drastically altered as well. They had some success with the Director's Cut of "Daredevil", but it came too late.

I'm not saying all changes from the source are bad, but there should be detailed rational reasons for them. Most in this film seem to have been arbitrary.

Considering the FF have never been installed into the public consciousness the way other CB properties have I don't know why Fox are so determined to hang on to the rights. Comic book movie doesn't = automatic megabucks. (Heck, even the X-Men movies weren't exactly amazing money-spinners until DOFP did the business that it did.) There's the 'spiting Marvel' angle but all Marvel do is spite them right back, like cancelling the FF book and mandating the exclusion of the characters from Marvel events & merch going forward.

It's such a sorry state of affairs, but if the new FF movie tanks then Fox will have no choice but to 'negotiate' the rights with Marvel because they won't be able to sell a sequel to a dud and I can't see a Sony-style collaboration happening because of the existing enmity between Fox and Marvel.

I completely agree with this as well. It would be a best of both worlds approach.

On almost every website I've visited, when the positive Twitter reactions are posted, people keep bringing up Green Lantern. Yes it did get positive reaction and still did not fair well; it got slaughtered.

But nobody brings up the positive Twitter reactions to X-Men: DOFP, Cap 2 or GOTG. All had positive Twitter reactions and they all turned out great.

Hell, even The Wolverine had pretty good Twitter reactions and people kept bringing up Green Lantern and Origins. The Wolverine turned out to be a good flick.

Are you serious? Since MARVEL established it's cinematic universe, and the formula with their product has been successful, they'd like to give the audiences more complete storylines using their complete roster of characters, who've interacted in the graphics. There are many stories that have been great enough to make into films and not having the rights hinder developing the stories they'd like most to tell.

FF is one of their A-list character stories, Iike Spiderman. Iron Man is not. TRUE fans KNOW this. It's one of the reasons people get upset with those early remarks by the director. He seemed to take the position that the viewing public will take whatever he shovels onto their plate. Disrespectful.

Again, really? These heroes have formed relationships with many of the MCU characters; Sue Storm and Namor have had a little side story going, Ben and Hulk have clashed more than a few times, Reed has an ongoing relationship with The Illuminati; Dr. Strange, Hank Pym, Stark, and S.H.I.E.L.D., and was instrumental in sending Banner/Hulk into space leading to Planet Hulk & World War Hulk, not to mention discovering The Negative Zone, which he, Pym and Stark used to lock away HEROES in the Civil War storyline.

That's like putting Dr. Octopus in The Avengers as a foe with no Spider-Man. SMH!

Yes but DOFP, Cap 2, or GOTG didn't have all the negative buzz going in. And they did turn out great. Green Lantern got great Twitter reactions and turned out to be a steaming pile. Don't really see your point. If this turns out great, then okay we can add it to the DOFP AND Cap 2 list. If it turns out terrible it will be added to the Green Lanten list. Point is you can't trust Twitter reactions of pre screened movies.

Not to mention we'd at least get a little bit less whining from the fanboys, but on the other hand, if Marvel gets Fantastic Four back, perhaps the fanboys will rally in full force, since they think their strategy is working, and stir up an even bigger shitstorm until the X-Men have reached Marvel's roster as well...

Just doesn't seem right using deadpool to sell a family movie like FF .
