That's a good list & would also like Le Doulos & Bob Le Flambeur but Criterion lost the rights to those & even the DVDs are out of print (still have to grab them myself though).

I don't think anyone has mentioned it yet but Carnival of Souls would be another upgrade I'd like to see.

Seeing as TCM is having an all-day Warren Oates salute, I was wondering what are the chances that Monte Hellman's Cockfighter might claw its way into the Collection? I still treasure my Anchor Bay DVD not only for the feature film but also the excellent bio supplement-Warren Oates: Across the Border. Every time I see Oates in something I'm always saddened by his early death just when it seemed he was hitting his artistic high.

Doubt it. I just last night ordered half a dozen titles being shipped to Australia. If they ship here, they ship anywhere.

You'll find it's from the third party, even if it's "Sold by XXXX. Fulfilled by Amazon". Most third party sellers don't ship Criterion's outside the US.

With Criterion titles (and probably other products, but I only notice it with Criterion's), when searching for then selecting a title on Amazon, it usually comes up from the cheapest seller.

When viewing a Criterion title's page, note who's selling it and the "This titles does not ship to ...", then click the "New from" price on the Additional Blu-ray options bar.

This will open the page listing all the sellers. Look for the listing direct from Amazon, and add to cart. Amazon is always $2-$4 dollars more expensive than the cheapest option.

Once you've added it to you cart, open the cart, click on the title again, and you'll notice the seller is Amazon and the shipping restriction is removed.

Easy peasy!

This post still has me chuckling days later. I really want to wait until the next Criterion.com flash sale (guessing it will be end of September or early October like the 2nd one last year) to buy Day for Night and 8 1/2, but Amazon's $22.49 sale price for DFN is tempting.

I will probably keep saving up for the flash sale so I can definitely get the following:

8 1/2
Blind Chance(this will be a blind buy, but Kieslowski is one of my favorite directors)
Day for Night
Kiss Me Deadly

And maybe...
A Hard Days Night
Lonesome←This would be a blind buy also. Any opinions on this release?

The Zatoichi set is the Gold Box deal of the day on Amazon. $97.99 or 56% off retail. A little less than the $112 to pick it up during the B&N or flash sales.

My one big hope, re-upgrades is Jeanne Dielman. A Woman Is A Woman too.

Are you referring to the UK edition? Because that's remained little more than a punchline for nigh on three years now. It was announced in 2012 but has been delayed ever since. Mouchette was announced at the same time and eventually materialised tho.

Having just watched it over the past weekend I can vouch for the greatness of the new UK Pickup On South Street Blu-ray. It's a dead cert for my end of year list.

During the next go 'round, I would love for Criterion to release something offbeat from the 1980s, along the same lines as Something Wild or Repo Man.
David Byrne's True Stories would be a fun choice.

Over the past couple of months, I've been watching an inordinate amount of 1980s flicks on Blu-ray. Footloose (1984), Outland, The Cannonball Run, The Hunger, Miracle Mile, Rambo: First Blood Part II, The Legend of the Lone Ranger, Something Wild, Wolfen, Cocktail, Road House, Howling II, etc.
Last night, I watched An American Werewolf in London, and I had forgotten how much I used to love that flick.

I suspect that this is because, during the past couple of months, I've taken on new responsibilities at work, I've purchased my first home, and I've moved into the new home. With all of the crazy things going on lately, revisiting movies from my childhood and adolescence is the equivalent of "comfort food" that takes me back to more carefree times.

At any rate, keep up the 1980s stuff, Criterion.

I'm really enjoying the Zatoichi: The Blind Swordsman set. I watched the first six movies a few weeks ago.

I'm following CriterionBlues's advice about spacing the films apart, though, so I decided to take a break.

I don't know who has the rights but The Lair of the White Worm would be an autobuy and right up their alley.

There may be a chance, because it's not listed anymore but not OOP. So maybe, they are working on a Blu Ray. Still, please Criterion!

I gush about Blu-Ray.com I think around the 40-45 minute mark. And then again at the very end. It's a long episode and is some serious geeking out and discussing rumors, so take your time with it.
I finished the podcast this morning. Excellent episode! You gave everyone their money's worth with content.
Definitely one that I'll go back and reference in the future.

To this day I still don't understand how this film is so routinely ignored. Even in its cut form it is a amazing movie. For the last release of this to be DVD only shows how little faith the studio has in it. Would look amazing in HD and I'd hope Criterion would make an attempt to get this considering the party that owns the rights has no intention of releasing it.

Love the set so much I'd like to see Criterion get the hundred TV episodes out in a boxset as well. Shintarô Katsu's mannerisms are what make the movies to me. Also would love to see The Blind Menace (Shiranui kengyo) get a Bluray release. Highly recommended for fans as it is the Zatoichi character, before Zatoichi, only he's extremely evil in it. Also stars his wife.

Since noone else seemed to answer your question: It's a (mostly) silent movie about a man living a lonely life in New York, who meets a girl on Coney Island where they have a lot of fun and... Well, I won't spoil it, but it's well worth it, in my opinion. Head and shoulders above the usual melodramas of that age, it's a charming and heartfelt movie.

... and it has some really cool bonus features, including a second feature-length silent film, The Last Performance starring Conrad Veidt, plus a reconstruction of director Paul Fejos' early sound musical Broadway.

Absolutely amazing! I placed an order with Amazon.UK on August 19 for the Studio Canal 4-disc version of The Third Man, plus four other items, and they said my estimated delivery date would be between September 08 and September 11.

Well, guess what showed up in my mailbox this morning, six days after I placed the order?! This is especially amazing because ... as much as I love living out in the country in the middle of nowhere ... it sometimes takes more than a week for a piece of first class mail to get to me from Texas!

I haven't watched my treasures yet, but I'm very impressed with the products. The cases are sturdy (no flimsy eco-lite junk that I'm going to have to replace), and the boxed sets are solidly constructed. Plus, the discs were much cheaper than their American counterparts, even with shipping factored in. Heaven help me ... have I unwittingly taken the first step into going region free?!!
