But if they don't cast who I want then it's racist, sexist, stupid, annoying, and I just don't think it's right. I'm boycotting this movie and I will not talk of it further until something else happens in it that makes my delicate sensibilities upset.

This is turning out to be the best casted of any comic book movie ever. I mean is this a comic book movie or a oscar bait period piece because with this cast, I can't tell. Can we just sit back, enjoy it, and marvel (no pun) at what we are getting?

How is the casting excellent? Once again we have a needless gender swap, a needless race swap and the miscasting of Cumberbatch because apparently we have to cast him in like...everything! (much like Dwayne Johnson).

They had a chance to cast an Asian male (possibly an older male), which would show more solid diversity, but they've swapped the gender to a female again lol! so they reversed the process.

That's not diversity, that's doing the same thing everyone else is doing now, that's going backwards. You have the same setup (although no swapping) going on in Star Wars! seems to be a pattern emerging.

Yeah they definitely shouldn't cast the movie with the best people. Tilda Swinton is a world class actress. Cast the best performers you can get for a part. If you have a chance to get someone like Swinton, you don't say no.

Oh and I gurantee you if they casted an Asian in the role than people would be complaining how an old Asian man was casted in the ancient wise man role thereby playing into a stereotype. Everyone can't be appeased. So, get the best actors for the parts.

OK, you don't ever say no, so you would cast Tilda Swinton as say...Wonder Woman or Black Widow? because you don't say no?

If that's the case then why don't they cast Robert De Niro as Thor? because he's a great actor and you don't say no if you get that chance

Or race swap Black Panther, reboot his entire origins backstory and cast Leonardo DiCaprio because he's a great actor and you don't say no if you get that chance.


Yes you're right about the stereotyping, but not entirely, because you would have that problem with any ancient mystical Asian character, but generally you don't because people know what the film is trying to portray.

Weren't you one of the guys who ripped into F4 for straying from the source material? But you're fine with a complete gender and race swap in this instance? Apologies if you weren't. But if the Ancient One is Asian in the comics, then how is casting an Asian a "stereotype"? It's being true to the source material is it not?

Makes sense. I'm not too hot on Strange lore, so I thought maybe they'd given a role meant for an Asian to Swinton just because they felt like it. It'd be like casting... Tim Robbins as Lucius Fox. Obviously that's not the case here.

In other words, they had to have a strong female character, because its the trendy thing to do and without one it could be deemed sexist and not diverse (despite the fact the original main character is Asian, which apparently isn't diverse enough!).
