Tons of CDs have sounded like crap over the years thanks to "digital remastering", which really means "crank up the volume and obliterate any dynamic range the audio had" (The Loudness Wars). Vinyl has manged to avoid being a player in that field for the most part. And some people do like the warm analog sound of vinyl, like I said. But there are many drawbacks to vinyl, and the debate will likely never end on which is better. Again, according to math, CD wins. I myself love vinyl but agree it has many, many drawbacks. For one, every time you play it, it gets worse. That's a fact, and a major downside. The fact that the sound is better on the outside edge of the record as opposed to the inside is another issue. |
