If anyone who has a lot of Scream Factory slipcovers is willing to trade or sell, could you please PM me?

I would buy or trade from you. And if interested, I have EVERY Disney Classic Blu-ray O-Ring slipcover that are hard to find now.

Who has the rights to Wes Craven's Deadly Friend?

This is an important film, because it commenced my longtime infatuation with Kristy Swanson. Without revealing spoilers, I also love the basketball scene.

By my estimation you should receive several PMs from the folks who proudly toss their slips in the trash/recycle bin.

Mine are in a drawer in case I ever want to sell them. Send me what you want and if I have one I'll let you know. I don't own a TON of Scream releases though.

Was hoping that Amazon would have matched Best Buy's price for Backcountry and Harvest.

What an awesome movie! I actually only saw it a few years ago as a result of the "Twisted Terror" DVD set, but I love how it is a mix of kids movie and ultraviolent weirdness. Definitely one of Craven's best!

Unfortunately I think the rights are with Warner Brothers, which means that it is unlikely another company will be able to release it. A real shame because there is such an interesting production history to the film (including many alternate, extended and deleted scenes) that a special edition Blu Ray would be incredible! It is unfortunate that Craven would not be able to offer new insights :-(

I don't hold it against you. It cracks my Top 5 (at the moment, having not seen Last House or the two Hills Have Eyes films).
5- The People Under the Stairs
4- A Nightmare on Elm Street
3- Red Eye
2- Scream
1- Wes Craven's New Nightmare

Really wanted to switch out the first Elm Street for Deadly Friend, because it's so watchable, but ANOES is objectively so much better.

Wes Craven's The Last House on the Left is too mean-spirited for my tastes, and, although I own a great many slasher films/horror films from the late 1970s and early 1980s, I do not have that particular movie in my collection, nor do I have plans to add it to my collection. I totally get why the movie is well-regarded in the horror community, and I'm glad that I watched it once, but once was enough.

I feel similarly about the film, I Spit on Your Grave.

This has been covered numerous times before. You could ask yourself the same thing about collecting movies in general. I spent about 20 minutes trying to explain to a co-worker just yesterday the draw of buying movies. I received 4 packages in the mail and he happened to be standing there when the mailman handed them to me. He goes "what the heck are all those?", and I tell him they're all Blu-rays. He shakes his head and goes "why do you buy movies when you can watch them for free on TV?". I tell him, first of all, they're not free - you have to pay the cable bill every month. So as I'm opening packages and pulling out Blu-rays he says, "I saw that one last weekend on the FX channel", so I say, "yeah, with commercials every 7 minutes and cut to ribbons". His answer: "so what" . Lucky for him I want to maintain my clean criminal record so I can remain employed and keep buying movies.

Do you still wanna know why people like slipcovers? People like what they like. Leave it alone.

NEVER ask a collector why he/she collects. You may only ask "Where", "How", and "What".

But if I had to guess:
- some think they look nicer
- they are more rare than non slip covers
- they give the impression you were one of the first ones to buy that release

To put it simply it's about perceived Value and Collectors mentality. It applies to everything in life, however it's importance varies on a person's interest in the item at hand. For example, As it pertains to movies... You go to Best Buy, you see 2 copies of the same movie on display. One has a slip cover, the other doesn't. Both are priced exactly the same. Which do you take? You may not care one bit about slipcovers, but you can't deny the fact that by taking the coverless version you are essentially getting a worse value. You can take this same principle one step further... You have 2 Used copies of the same movie priced exactly the same. One has cover art, the other does not. Which version do you buy? Cover Art is essentially as useless as a slip cover, but once again the better value is the edition that came with the cover.

There are very very few of us that are interested in collecting Slip covers for the sake of collecting slip covers. However if a release initially had one, for many of us, our release is incomplete without them. On their own I see very little reason to have interest in them, however when viewed as part of a complete package they are part of what makes collecting anything fun. It's the small details, and the journey to obtaining a collection of anything that's enjoyable.

Why do people like anything?
Different people like different things. Quite simple actually!

There is also a whole, big, movies thread. Yet people discuss films and plot points in the blu-ray forum.

I know this has already been discussed in other threads, but I'll add it here in case anyone missed it:

Best Buy has Scream Factory's blu-rays of The Harvest and Backcountry available for $9.99 each this week. They should be carried in most stores.

Also, The Harvest was added to NetFlix streaming today if you'd like to try before you buy.
