Haha! I know. When my brother and I came out of the theater from seeing it the first time, he was going on and on about how insane and awesome it was. I was like "Yeah, from the director of Babe and Happy Feet." He thought I was joking, but I said "No, it's true. Same guy," and he was like "Whaaat?!"

How would you have done it differently? Apart from some of the cutting you mentioned above and the crash at the start happening too quickly what else didn't you like, what would you change and how in your eyes would you have made the first 20 minutes better?

What's amazing is that he hadn't directed a live action movie since 1998!!!!! Just shows the faith that WB had in him to deliver something amazing.

Fury Road is like a combination of Road Warrior and Beyond Thunderdome. So yes, both those films share similar elements. The orignal Mad Max however is quite different from the rest.

Road Warrior is basically the same movie only 80's. The original is more a revenge exploitation flick. Thunderdome is more a standard 80's adventure movie but has elements of Road Warrior and Fury Road. If you like movies from the 80's I don't know why you wouldn't enjoy them. If you're like 22 years old and are asking if they're more special than other 80's classics... not really.

I was kind of surprised they opted for the generic menu. Kinda boring looking. I was expecting video clips of some of the action scenes. Maybe that's just a Warner thing but I hoped for something more creative.

Warner just do static menus now. Physical media is collapsing in sales, so it's a cost-cutting measure.

Did anyone else get a kick out of the trailer for digital versions of movies that they put on this disc. It was almost a slap in the face to people who waited the 20 days to buy the physical version instead of digital. Just goes to show that film companies cannot stand the fact that you physically have a copy of their film that you can do what you want with.

Digital copies is the format they have beeen waiting for so they can have more control over what is done with the film.

This is the first film I have seen since Guardians of the Galaxy where I didn't want it to end. That's how much I liked Mad Max: Fury Road. One thing is for sure, I could tell George Miller was behind the camera within 15 minutes.

Static menus like the one on It Follows are great. This one just is plain and ugly. Same thing on the Road Warrior and Thunderdome (I think MM at least has clips playing).

That's just Warner for you. All of their discs are region free so they make basic static menus that folks all over the world can utilize easily. Mad Max (1979) is MGM by the way.

That's really good and fair question. Being a Mad Max fan for years of the first two movies, I would have had a bit more of an extended chase with the Interceptor. Seeing that car crash so fast was really off putting. It's like being a Star Wars fan, seeing the Millennium Falcon after years of waiting, only to have it crash in the first 30 seconds or so of the movie and then never see Han Solo pilot the ship again. Most of my issues, like I said, are with the cutting in the opening scene and Max's escape attempt. Some seem to really dig it and that's cool. But I didn't care for it. I did like the introduction to Immortan Joe and Imperator Furiosa, The scenes with the War Boys that take place in, I'm guessing, the bowels of Joe's Citadel are interesting and at the same time off putting. It introduces Nux (I've seen the film more than a few times and I had to look that name up!) so I understand it's inclusion but I started to get Thunderdome vibes from the sequence. But once they hit the road, it's pretty stellar. The first really great scene, in my humble opinion, is the fight between Max and Furiosa. It's a marvel of film editing. After that, I was completely on board for the rest of the movie. I do have a few issues with the Vuvalini. We don't spend enough time with those characters to really care about their fate at the films climax. I'm empathetic to their plight but have no emotional investment with them. But all in all, this is a really good movie. I don't think it's as great as the first two Mad Max films but it's so much better than Thunderdome. It's probably the best blockbuster film I saw this summer with Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation and surprisingly Ant-Man as runners up.

Crazy what this film went through:

"Fury Road was in development hell for many years, with Miller first attempting to shoot the film in 2001. However, due to the September 11 attacks, shooting was delayed and Miller decided to focus on Happy Feet. In 2003, Miller finished the script for a fourth film, and the film was greenlighted with a US$100 million budget. However, production was delayed again, and then cancelled after the start of the Iraq War. Mel Gibson, originally set to reprise his role as Max, departed from the project after the cancellation. By 2007, Miller was pursuing the film again, and in 2009, it was announced that the film would instead be a 3D animated film, though this was eventually abandoned in favour of a live-action film. Later that year, Miller announced that filming would begin in early 2011. Hardy was cast as Max in June 2010, with production planned to begin that November. Principal photography was delayed several more times before beginning in July 2012. The film wrapped in December 2012, although additional footage was shot in November 2013."
