Mad Max: Fury Road Steelbook (Best Buy Exclusive)

Maybe I got lucky but my Steelbook closes at it should. However, it doesn't firmly close shut. It feels a little light when you open it up.

Is that what everyone is referring to?

If I face the opening down or shake it a bit it doesn't open. It has to take atleast one finger to open it but it opens very lightly.

Apparently the pre-order report at Best Buy only had online pre-orders listed for the steelbook. Somehow Best Buy didn't put the in-store pre-orders on the report that employees are given to pull pre-orders. This is a huge miss by Best Buy and hopefully gets fixed for future titles.

I feel bad for anyone who didn't get their copies and hope that they can make good on the pre-order customers.

Oh, with this release, I had no problem with them whatsoever. My MM:FR Steelbook copy was happily waiting in the back for me to pick up when I got there. And I even called a day in advance to make sure that it was there, and the guy that assisted me was very nice. But in the past, the management of that particular location has had a tendency to make some real doofus moves from time to time...such as putting out items on the stock floor days in advance yet not letting the customer make a purchase of said stock until that Tuesday. Things like that.

It now says coming soon instead of sold out. I bet like GoTG there were returns due to damage or some other reason and they'll be repackaged like they did with GoTG (no sticker, it was a repackage) and will be sold now online.

Pacific Rim was a great/solid popcorn movie and somehow it didn't make much money (even in Japan which is bewildering though it was loved by some reknowned game designers and anime creators, at least it did great box office in China which helps it get a sequel). But of course another completely crap Transformers sequel made a ridiculous ton of money because it's A) from a franchise B) based on a line of toys that is C) based on a generally crappy old animated series (which existed solely to sell those toys) that I watched as a kid in the 80s. I watched Transformers 2-4 in one week and thought it might actually steal IQ points from me to do so. I then went and re-watched the first film and realized that at least it was less awful than the sequels by comparison. The ONLY good thing about the Transformers franchise was that it allowed me to sell 4 old toys (including Jetfire) that I had in storage for a decent price, which funded some purchases of movies that do not suck.

You sold Jetfire! Nooooooo! May have been a Veritech Fighter copy but it was so well made! I never had one. I had most G1 characters but not that one.

Pacific Rim was so overrated. The climactic action was kinda nice, but the rest of the movie was tedious with obnoxious characters. (I really couldn't stand those two scientists.) Charlie Hunnam was particularly cringe-worthy as well. Idris Elba was good, but that's because he's Idris Elba. It might have had less impressive special effects, but I'd take RobotJox over it any day. At least it didn't take itself so seriously or overstay it's welcome. Then again, I never really got into the Kaiju genre any way. Was always a little goofy to me.

I can't seem to remember, can anyone tell me if Best Buy gave 100 bonus points for preordering this steelbook? I know they did it for Pitch Perfect 2, Avengers, Cinderella, and San Andreas.

and it was in the box in pretty good shape though the stickers had been applied. Being a Macross ripoff was the only reason I kept it that long, but my anime days are basically behind me so I sold it a few years ago and bought some Blu-rays.

Sure Charlie Hunnam was the weakest thing about it and only Idris Elba could deliver a line like the one about canceling the apocalypse with a straight face. The world-building that went into the film, the drifting concept, the way the story begins in media res, thereby bypassing a giant chunk of time most films would use up on an extended origin story, PacRim has a lot going for it. I thought half-heartedly about keeping my copy sealed but decided I didn't want to be that kind of person. Opened it right up and it's glorious. I think that back artwork absolutely should have been Furiosa and the wives, though.

agree, totally missed an opportunity there. I, also, would have liked the Max "thumbs up" picture.

the Steelbook artwork is gorgeous...the standard 2D Blu-ray cover art with Furiosa and Max is terrible...lazy photoshop...one of the worst cover arts of all time for an all time great movie
