Personally, I don't see why even a new 4K scan of the original camera negative would suddenly provide "infinite depth of field" in those split field diopter shots. They were shot how they were shot and there's no way to really "fix" them in the way you describe.

Re read... I've seen every iteration and every release. This one was wholly new as evidenced by the resolution and depth of field fixes.
