Weird. This is so last-year which most Who fans already own in 2D.
You'd think they'd put the effort into releasing the first episodes of the new season in 3D to launch its premiere in a big way.

Fathom Events said this was set for showings in 3D around September 14 or so and to check your theater for times.

If it's the same crew behind the ones that made the movie, then it wouldn't be surprising if it was filmed in 3D since they might already have access to the equipment. I heard the first one had stronger 3D.

Otherwise, if it was a new crew working on the two part episodes, then possibly a 2D to 3D conversion.

Yes, JP3D is something great. I have heard the 3D in Day of Dr is also solid. Nice to see they're putting an effort in for the 3D Dr.
They are both excellent I just hope we get this in the UK but with both Seventh Son and Poltergeist missing 3D releases here in the UK . I have a feeling we will be left out.

I'm confused. If Seventh Son didn't get a UK 3D disc release, then why are some people importing it from there?

Some people are importing the German release in the U.S. from Amazon.com.
Edit: This is a region B German Copy of Seventh Son

(This should be in the Seventh Son forum)

They are selling the Germany version..... in the UK..... on Amazon.

Sometimes If you order from the UK it can be cheaper.

The link you posted is a region B German Copy of Seventh Son.

Well the show really didn't benefit much from the use of 3D. There were a few moments that had some good 3D visuals but nothing captivating. For the most part it wouldn't have mattered whether you saw this in 2d from off the TV or in 3D. It was nowhere near on par with Day of the Doctor.

I will still get the Blu-ray. It might prove a little better on the home theater system. I will give my two cents worth after it gets here.

Well, the 3-D wasn't all that spectacular, and it has a lot going against it because so many scenes were a bit on the dark side to begin with.

The cinema presentation also included the new prequel to Series 9 and a Q and A with Peter Capaldi and what's her name. Capaldi gave a few small hints of where the new series might be going...

Yeah true, I forgot to mention that it was so dark for the most part.

Her name is Jenna Coleman.

Watched the Blu yesterday and was pleasantly surprised by the 3d - the title sequences and TARDIS were brilliant in 3D but there was strong depth pretty much throughout... maybe more in the first half than the second.

Not much in the way of popout though, and some of the weaker CGI elements (the Cybermen flying on what increasing looks like piles of grey squirty cream) stood out a bit more.

Oh and the audio has had a bump to Dolby TrueHD 7.1, if that is any use to anyone!

There's a 3D version of last seasons finale? This hasn't aired in the UK and I didn't even know it existed till I read this thread.

BBC UK decided we don't want it in either cinemas or on disc.

Er, I do. So I've imported the (I can confirm region free) US disc.

I'm an idiot, it isn't TrueHD 7.1 but Dolby Atmos on it! (Don't have Atmos system yet) Serves me right for not paying enough attention to the back of the box...

And on that note, seems that the reason for it not being in the UK was this country having taken The Sontaran Stratagem too seriously Rachel Talalay explains on her Tumblr

Isn't the TrueHD 7.1 lossless sound accurate, which is the backwards compatibility feature for non Dolby Atmos 9.2 channel setups?

Yes, my non-Atmos amp is decoding TrueHD7.1, which is still a nice bonus over the expected 5.1.

Can someone please confirm this Blu-ray comes with Dolby Atmos, like the backcover says?
