Currently making my list! Been wanting to do this for a few years but never had time

EDIT: Freddy is my favorite. Dad let me watch NOES 3 (first R-rated film) and I have since never looked back.

Would anyone be interested in doing a "live" watch of the first NOES or Scream movie or both at some point before Halloween? All to celebrate Wes and his contributions. We could try to pick a date/time when as many members as possible can be around and we can start the movie and then post and chat in here discussing it.

I'd be down for Scream. Watched ANOES a few days before he passed away, which is kinda freaky.

Tall Man from Phantasm gets my vote for favorite villain!

So far we've watched:

Ex Machina (not horror but pretty creepy)
The Crazies (remake) 1/2
Poltergeist (remake) 1/2

I'll have to gather some more interest to see what we can do.

You can rent it from most Redbox locations right now. I may end up buying it. It was fantastic. Alicia Vikander gives an excellent, unsettling performance as Ava. Her acting alone is what pushes it close to the horror genre at times.

I'm really looking forward to Halloween this year! I tried to do this last year, but I only saw about 4 movies 'cause of school. Now that I'm graduated, I'm gonna try and do all 31! I'm working on my list now and I'm gonna try and watch half old movies (everything before 2000) and new (2000-2015). There are quite a few recent movies that I'd like to see. Does anyone have a criteria or requirement for their selected movies? Just curious what everyone is doing.

I absolutely consider Ex Machina a horror movie (even if no one else really seems to see it that way). It would have been right at home with movies like Bride of Frankenstein, The Invisible Man, and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde back in the 1930s. It's a slow burn, atmospheric movie with a movie monster. It's so unlike modern horror movies that people forget horror movies used to be just like Ex Machina.

My selections usually go like this:
-Several DVDs/Blus that are horror that I haven't watched yet. I've owned some DVDs for over a decade and haven't even watched them.

-Old classics I haven't watched in years to make sure the days/weeks don't get too dull. I make sure I haven't seen them in years so it feels fresh. This year I plan on watching Evil Dead (it's been at least 5 years), Rosemary's Baby (probably 15+ years), Eyes without a Face (10 years), Hocus Pocus (probably haven't watched since theaters as a child).

-New blu-ray releases.

-Never watch too many of the same kind of movie or series in a row. Last year I spaced out the days I watched Lucio Fulci movies and it made it so much better than if I watched them all in a row.

-I try to represent as many different types of horror movies as possible. This year, Paul Naschy, HG Lewis, Vincent Price, many 60s classics, several asian movies, and key 30s movies are being represented, as well as movies from every other decade to fill the gaps.

You know what....when I first read Ex Machina labeled as horror, I scoffed at it. But it makes sense when you put it that way. That's a great comparison.

I can't believe that Freddy Krueger ranks 3rd among the big 80s slasher villain three.

I always found him to be a far more interesting and dynamic character than Jason or Michael Meyers.

Great to see the 2015 Horror junkie thread started...My Favorite time of the year.
I would be down to see either movie.

I just got in138309_large.jpg

89510_large.jpg

125997_large.jpg

Watched the drownsman last night,It was a decent movie,a little slow pace at times but it was interesting to see a different type of villain and his method to kill his prey.

So glad to see a thread for 2015 finally go up. I've spent the last couple weeks going all around to places like Target, Best Buy Wal-Matt and even bought a couple movies off Amazon to gear up for this Halloween season. So far, what I've picked up is:

Drive-Thru / Creep / Boy Eats Girl / Tamara (All came in a 4-pack DVD)
Hatchet II
Halloweentown / Halloweentown II: Kalabar's Revenge
The Brothers Grimm
Re-Animator
When a Stranger Calls (1979) / Happy Birthday to Me

Been trying to hold off on watching horror movies until closer to the first of the month, but I don't know how much longer I can hold out. I'm like a crackhead who needs a fix. LOL.

I hear you,its never a wrong time to watch horror.90% of my movie watching is horror but the fun part is getting all these new horror releases and holding out until oct to enjoy them,so many still sealed and it kills me but it's worth the wait for this time of the year...Enjoy
