So true. Just look at the B&M sections in the stores, it's great. So many more choices than back in the day.

So very true. The week of Blades of Glory (due to Paramount taking the $$$). Blu-ray had no releases.

To me that number may as well be zero because I do not buy DVD any more.

Except for "The Black Hole" recently.

Well, then you are seriously limiting yourself to movies to watch. I suppose you don't go to the movie theatre anymore either.

I don't buy dvd's and I don't go to the theater. Nothing has come out worth paying to see.

You could say the same for blu ray. There is tons of movies on blu that are crap.

And DVD only has 71K? For some reason, I would think it's a much higher number.

I'm sure it's a TON more than that. The OP got that number from BB (Best Buy? or Blockbuster?) and I'm pretty sure that doesn't include porn or other limited release titles.

I stopped buying DVD movies years ago (for the most part). Doesn't limit what I watch at all though. It's simply a limit on what I buy - quite a big difference.

And though the original remark wasn't directed at me, I figure I'll throw in that I still go to the theatre. I do probably go a little less though.

I did too, for the most part. I still buy DVD only releases that are generally deemed unpopular and will never make it to blu-ray.

All mainstream movies though, only blu-ray...

Post Limits make sense

I don't intend to buy or own, hundreds of Blu Ray's. As I do not feel it limits me or what I watch at all. Thanks to Direct TV.

I do plan on buying what I consider to be great Blu ray movies and disc's!
Usually I will preview before buying. Unless I am awfully certain like when Mongols comes out. (hope I am not wrong).

It's definitely a lowball figure for every unique dvd that has ever been in print. I believe that number is closer to 150,000 titles but that higher figure includes titles like workout videos and baby videos and adult titles.

I only go to movies when I am also likely to buy the movie. I used to wait for the DVD but decided to live life a little more and get out of the dang house. $20 for a movie and snacks once in a while isn't going to put me in the poor house.

i thought those were early 90's shows? i must be losing it. old age is really starting to settle in.
