To be honest I've seen too much of the characters without context that I'm getting really bored of them. The only thing I'm interested now is the full theatrical trailer because I'm most excited in the story than anything else, a subtle hint of the story is all I need now.

Even the merchandise displays for Force Friday were void of the words "The Force Awakens" until you actually look at some of the merchandise itself.

It's frightening and a little disheartening to think that they aren't pushing a bit more. I know they don't want to over-saturate and I understand that. However, we're heading up to the end of September and got through D23 and Force Friday with nary any attention paid to the movie coming out in December. Either they are planning to go crazy starting next month (haven't heard any indication of it) or they're playing it coy, hoping that the story will sell the movie on good word of mouth. Problem with that is that they haven't talked about the story at all yet (except for those of us who care enough to pay attention to spoilers).

I found it interesting that at D23 they had footage/trailers/teasers for four movies coming out next year and, when they got to SW, they went right to Iger talking about the parks. Even if the picture they showed was a new planet in TFA, they never said it. It's as if they are dismissing it. The movie will come out as planned. But I don't think the movie will be even as big as Age of Ultron and may actually fail to or just make $400 million in the US.
Force Friday little more than a whimper? Yeah. Sure buddy.

I would LOVE to buy that bridge, but despite the best efforts of The Rock and Superman, it keeps getting wrecked by earthquakes, to say nothing of the damage caused by X-Men villains and Godzilla. Maintenance and constant repair costs on that thing must be huge.

I don't know if it's just a coincidence but a lot of people I know have no clue about Ep VII coming out. The store I run has employees ranging from highschool to middle aged and I'd say 90% of them knew nothing about Star Wars coming out on Christmas until myself and one other guy started going on about it after Force Friday.

Yes people see Star Wars all over the place in the stores and stuff but many of them have no idea a movie is coming out let alone the fact that it is a sequel to the OT with the original cast.

I've come across that too. Most of the time it's a matter of people having heard about one coming but don't know when. As for the teens I work with, not a single one of them cares one bit about a new SW movie. So exposure IS important and hyping is crucial for a $4billion purchase. SW fans tend to think everyone knows and likes what they like. Not the case. Today's teens were born when the prequels came out and have grown up in the world where the latest SW movies were chided. Positivity is needed more than any of us realize. Disney didn't buy the franchise to put movies out that only appeal to die hard fans. JJ got people who couldn't care less about Star Trek to love the 2009 movie and they hired JJ for a reason.

What are you so upset about? The Khan thing? Big deal.

He's not a liar. Cumberbatch was playing a character called John Harrison for nearly half the film.

What else has JJ lied about? Something causing not cancer? Climate change? Something that affected your life?

Didn't even realize that bridge survived the big electromagnetic thingy from 2003. Seemed like pretty extensive damage.

Tracks claimed to be from the score has been uploaded. Sounds new, with some notes traceable to existing themes. Maybe fake (I can hear some notes from E.T. near beginning of the first track), but a very good one and spent a lot of time and energy for it.

I think we may have another Kahn issue here, and also that would mean that scene with Finn and the blue lightsaber could only mean that Finn was just defending himself with it.

And if we look at this article on Episode 8 Skellig Michael set they said that Daisy Ridleys character was filming a fighting scene where she was swinging Lightsabers around, and then there was another fight scene... Now could this be Luke Training Rey????

http://www.starwars7news.com/2015/09...g-michael.html
I wouldn't say it's a major fakeout, I've always thought those were lightsabers on the end of Rey's staff. And her resemblance to Natalie Portman isn't a coincidence, Rey's got her grandmomma's cheekbones!

Okay, been away for a while and havebeen catching up on this thread.

There seems to be a general worry about the film not being marketed THREE months before it's release...I can't understand why. If they start posting TV spots now people will get annoyed with it. They need to put out theatrical releases early for other films because they're is no built in market for those films. Star Wars is almost guaranteed 1 billion Box Office world wide. They don't need to start driving it down our throats just yet.

I for one have been very pleased, we had that short teaser a full year in advance. Then a longer one. Then hype begins to build. Force Friday in September. A full trailer in October. Then Battlefront. Followed by an Age of Ultron-type media Saturation that will be everywhere you look.

Disney is smart and they know how to market. And I hope to gosh they aren't trying to lure in the dumb teen crowd. This movie should be marketed to the 25-45 age range. You know, the ones that actually have money to spend on toys, etc...teens can make or break a movie, but Star Wars is insulated as a major hit no matter what. It doesn't need the teens to see it. Plus, there'll be almost nothing at the theater to compete with it. All the other studios know not to mess with it.

As for all the "most people don't know it's coming out in December, or that it has the original cast." No offense, but most people are stupid...They only know what's right in front of them and have no attention span, so again, they don't need 3 months of hype...

As for the order introducing people to Star Wars. I've done it once after all 6 movies were released and I like the flashback concept, which I thought I invented, but alas, my own delusions of grandeur got the best of me!
Episodes 4 & 5 (to not spoil the Vader reveal)
Then the Prequel Trilogy (trust me, with new eyes on it, people are shocked at how far that helpful little kid in episode 1 falls...and knowing it's coming makes his character in the first one seem so hauntingly sad)
Then cap it off with Return of the Jedi (which flows really well after Revenge of the Sith tone-wise and really drives home Vader's story in a nice 1-2 punch) Though if you can show them the version of Jedi that doesn't include Vader's "No" thus destroying one if the best scenes in the series, that helps. So again 4, 5, 1, 2, 3, 6...

Something I'm not seeing people consider in this debate...Pixar has The Good Dinosaur opening just a few weeks ahead of The Force Awakens. I wouldn't be shocked at all if LucasFilm waits until Thanksgiving for the final trailer.

Exactly!

This movie is going to be epic considering the talent that was brought in and the reverence they're giving it. Ford wouldn't be back unless he was happy with his part in it And the most assuring news...THEY SCRAPPED LUCAS's ORIGINAL TREATMENT! The new movies will be an homage to the original trilogy combining practical effects with modern special effects to create a visual masterpiece, and JJ Abrams (without Lindeloff around to muck up the script, sigh Prometheus...) and Kirshner (you know the guy that pretty much gave us the awesome that is Empire Strikes Back). And a disney marketing team that has helped turn marvel's second tier characters into an amazing franchise so well that Sony asked for their help with Spider-Man...

I leave the worrying to the rest of you, I am just enjoying the next few months of hype, excited about a new trailer and the day I wake up to find they released a new one!

And yes, I also was burned by the Prequel trilogy, but we know for a fact that the dialogue will be better without Lucas's awful writing (I don't like sand...) But that does not take away my hope, it strenghtens it. I still watch the prequels, as awful as the first two are...

My hope burns strong, it has been Awakened so to speak! Have you felt it?

Final trailer-yes. But not the next trailer. That would be the most epic blunder if they don't release a trailer at all until Thanksgiving when they will launch TV spots.

The next trailer will be released sometime between October 2 and October 16. 99% sure that will be the range.

I think they pulled a switcheroo somewhere, Rey always reminds me of Keira Knightley's Sabe.

You're probably right, also, the first game of the World Series is October 27 and LucasFilm could buy some ad time after the trailer blows up the web.

Whenever that next trailer comes, I hope it will be our first "proper" trailer. We've had two (excellent) teasers that told us Star Wars is back, now it's time to get a feel for what this movie is actually about.
