Can anybody else see a BD release of the original Halloween coinciding with the home video or theatrical release of Rob Zombies remake?

I second the recommendation for both Evil Dead films and will add Dutch to the list. I'd also be thrilled to see if AB can do anything with The Midnight Hour.

There's already been reports that a Die Hard set would be out for Christmas and at least the first Alien. But things may have changed, since both are from Fox.

Starz will distribute through MGM (who distributes through 20th Century Fox), but it appears they have full control on disc development. Anchor Bay has one of the largest catalogs of classic horror films, so expect some quality releases from them soon.
Clearly Fox needs to be distributing if they are releasing these.

Dario Argento? Is he the guy who made he's own cut of Dawn Of The Dead? I think I watched a film of his the other day called 'Zombie Flesh Eaters' or something...

Default Region free

It is great news indeed that we finally get the best horro movies on blue ray. What I would like to know is whether these films will be region free. I live in Europe and it would be a disaster if we were barred from buying these films!

I'd definitely snatch up a copy of Halloween and Dawn of the Dead. I have high expectations, especially for Halloween - it's beautifully shot and just begging for a great HD transfer.

I wouldn't be surprised if that turn out to be the case.

As much as I think it's great Starz is going Blu; there's a problem. The 'Halloween' remake at the moment is HD DVD only. :-/

Some of the Halloween movies will be Blu-ray Disc exclusive except for the Halloween 2, 3 and the remake. Universal Home Entertainment hold the rights to Halloween 2 and 3 while the Weinstein Company hold the rights to the remake.

So far, just the first, fourth, fifth will be released by Starz while the 6th, 7th and 8th will be released by Disney.

Ugh, I hate this format war. :-)

By the time Zombie's remake comes to home video, who knows where Weinstein will stand, especially after recent developments. I believe Universal has announced their complete lineup of movies for the rest of the year. Neither 2 or 3 were in there, so they'll probably wait till Oct 2008 or the home video release of the new remake too. So, anything could happen there too.
