I'd definitely snatch up a copy of Halloween and Dawn of the Dead. I have high expectations, especially for Halloween - it's beautifully shot and just begging for a great HD transfer.

Speaking of Halloween, and a little off topic, Is anybody besides me looking forward to Rob Zombie's remake? I think it's going to be great and the soundtrack looks killer

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halloween_(2007_film)

This is being done by Dimension. Will that make it to Blu? Have never been sure about where they stand in the format war.

At the moment, it's HD DVD only since the Weinstein Company hold the rights to the remake.

Argento did a cut of dawn of the dead but zombie flesh eaters was done by another horror film director by the name of Lucio Fulci's who did a few zombie/horror films and if you are horror buff at all check out his flick called the beyond.

I'd like to see what Zombie does with the Halloween franchise. I thought Devil's Rejects was far better than House Of 1,000 Corpses, which was so derivative it wasn't even funny. It'll be nice to see how Michael turned out the way he did.

I liked "The Devil's Rejects" but the new Halloween where Michael TALKS and is played by a 6'10 wrestler has disaster spelled all over it.
They just did a week of reshoots to add "more gore!" "more deaths!" "new ending!" because of very lackluster screenings. Basically, it's in big trouble....

on the subject of halloween i know rob is a horror fan but i just don't think he the restrained style needed for a film such as halloween and the scary thing about micheal in the first one was he was a normal kid who snapped one night trying to explain it just ruins the horror of it.

Default Region free

It is great news indeed that we finally get the best horro movies on blue ray. What I would like to know is whether these films will be region free. I live in Europe and it would be a disaster if we were barred from buying these films!

I wonder what version of Halloween is getting the Blu-ray release... My bet is the theatrical cut.

I do have to admit i love the extended version, only for the fact that it reveals a bit more of the background story etc. I kind of hope that if these extra scenes filmed for the TV version aren't in the film, then they are bonus features in a Deleted Scenes section.

Which version of Halloween do all of you prefer? Theatrical or TV extended version?

Sorry if this has already been announced elsewhere but this is from thedigitalbits today...

Starz (Anchor Bay) has revealed that Halloween and both its Evil Dead films and Dawn of the Dead films will all be released on Blu-ray Disc this October (exact street dates TBA)! Here's hoping that the Highlander films, Ghost in the Shell and other great titles will follow.
Perfect timing for those releases!
