I think the even more important news here is MGM!

MGM’s Simmons said another 10 to 12 titles are set for Blu-ray release within the next year, including The Sergio Leone Anthology (A Fistful of Dollars/For a Few Dollars More/The Good, The Bad and The Ugly/Duck, You Sucker).

Welcome back!

THE END. CHECK MATE. Everyone.... We won. I'm sorry, but that's it. That removed every last shred of doubt in my mind that Blu had it nailed. ROCK ON.

This could do MAJOR damage as they hold the rights to a lot of beloved classics...

The original DAWN OF THE DEAD for instance... EVIL DEAD 1 & 2... the original WICKER MAN... etc. etc. etc. The list goes on and on and on.

True cinephiles only have one way to go now... BLU!

Because there is no way to save face if they just give up. They have to make a deal, or they cannot save face. Saving face is very important

I saw this last week on another site where some guy was supposedly talking to someone who was working on the new Halloween movie and the were right next door to Anchor Bay and he said they were working on a Blu-ray release. I had mentioned this once but nobody seemed to notice. I mean even I didn't believe it was true, it was just a rumor. Boy was I shocked when this news came out too. Well happy as hell too.

Can anybody else see a BD release of the original Halloween coinciding with the home video or theatrical release of Rob Zombies remake?

I second the recommendation for both Evil Dead films and will add Dutch to the list. I'd also be thrilled to see if AB can do anything with The Midnight Hour.

They own the rights to the Hellboy animated films as well too. Hopefully we'll be seeing those.

But wouldn't Time Bandits be great? Sweet.

Depends on the film, but yes, AB has domestic distribution rights to a number Hammer classics.

They own the rights to a good portion of the Hammer catalogue -Quatermass and the Pit, Plague of the Zombies, etc. Anything I believe they licensed from Studio Canal +. The rest are divvied up between the various studios, or are lost in the black hole of legal entaglements and litigation (defunct distributors etc.).

But they've got some real choice Hammer stuff though!

I hope they can get the Amicus titles legally cleared in the US that they released in the UK (super special editions of DR. TERROR'S HOUSE OF HORRORS, ASYLUM... etc. etc.)
