Network in their weekly mailing are promoting their pre-buy of Robbery for what they call a special price of £15 (with free UK shipping), before it reverts to £17 on 31st August, release day.
http://networkonair.com/shop/2187-ro...626802349.html

Don't be fooled though as it's only £10.25 + shipping at Amazon, which means with Prime or an over £20 order with free shipping you are saving £4.75 !
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00TFANQSE

Plus with Prime Amazon will get the order to your first as Network don't ship until release day, which given it is a holiday in the UK, won't be until the next day Tuesday 1st.

If you want in your hand on 31st guaranteed HMV will be stocking in store for £14.99 or you can buy online with free delivery.

Limited Editions with exclusive content should never appear in sales as it ensures people won't feel inclined to support similar releases in the future.
Supermarionation was £80 as a pre-buy before reverting to usual £100 on release day. It has then be in various Network sales since down to latest price drop of £50 in their current boxset sale. Remember because of weight they add £3.60 for courier shipping (they tend to use TNT) on top.

With any LE boxset you take a gamble will it drop in price or sell out first. Have recently been discussing here Arrow's Videodrome LE boxset selling out after 1 day on release. A few other sell quickly like Studio Canal's Ghibli boxset. Howevers other stick around. I paid £28 for the Godfather luxury boxset from Amazon which started at a crazy £200, was worth nowhere near that, probably £50 to £75, but that is now £100+ in the resale market.

Yeah I noticed that. I wonder if it was just a particularly expensive title to produce or they're going to be putting the prices up from now on? If that's the case that isn't particularly great news.

The pricing seems even more strange after buying Quatermass direct for £17 so if it's going to be an overall price increase from here on it must have been a very recent decision.

The day 1 BD prices from Network have been £9.18 for single film BDs for some time now. They have priced some titles higher such as Last Seduction as that included the DVD of extras from the old special edition DVD as well as the BD.

For titles with more costs such as Wolcott where they had to fund a new HD transfer and Robbery where there's loads of extras their website quoted £12.24 which is still less than elsewhere for Wolcott.

What is a strange move is with Robbery they increased the proposed £12.24 to £15 when they finally put up for sale, plus with the caveat it increases further to £17 on release day. That makes it same price as discounted Quatermass preorders which had 2 x BDs and much higher costs of new HD restorations for Network.

Hopefully this does not mean an upward trend in their prices, as they will lose me buying day 1 and instead wait for their regular sales.

I'm not referring to LE which just have fancy packaging . Arrows LE steelbooks almost always turn up in the sales I'm talking about the Supermarionation set. A Limited Edition available from one retailer only with a marked up price that you had to pre BUY - pay weeks or months in advance to secure at that price. And one with exclusive content too.
I have no doubt that once the Supermarionation set sells out it's value will return but I still think it's wrong for items like that to be put in sales.
It certainly hasn't made me want to support future Network releases of that kind.

I have just ordered Space: 1999: The Complete Series 1. Is the second series still due to be released on BD this year? I see no mention of it on the Network site.

They said at the recent Anderson convention that it is coming this year.
Given Network's repeated delays in releasing titles compared with quoted dates on high profile titles they now only seen to be officially announcing a few weeks before they finally go on sale. As seen with recent Quatermass releases. It makes sense to hold back and wait until disks are actually off for duplication.

And you won't until Network are 99% certain of a release date.
They did promise an Autumn release when the Limited Edition Bringers Of Wonder came out late last year so I would expect it around October / November unless anything has gone wrong.
But why worry about Year 2 now. You've got to work your way through Year One - an incredible bargain at just £12.
When I think we used to pay that for 2 episodes on VHS from 16mm prints - now we have the entire season in mindblowing quality with 5.1 sound and a ton of extras. It's a superb set

I watched Robbery yesterday. Fantastic transfer - great to finally watch it in its OAR.

Stacked with extras, which I've yet to watch. Halfway through the lengthy booklet and that too is excellent.

My Robbery arrived today. Glad to know that the transfer is great. I won't have time to watch it till the weekend but I am sure the film will be worth the wait.

I emailed Network a month or so after boxset 3 of The Professionals came out to ask if the remaining ep's would be one set or spread over two and there response was one more set. Now months later nothing. Hope we here something soon.

The restoration studio have just finished work on series three of The Professionals, so it will probably be out at the end of the year or early new year. I saw them working on the restoration and it is up to the usual standard. Series two of The Sweeney is coming soon too, the restoration work has been done.

The restorations on those were finished long ago and Network released them October last year - but only on dvd. They seem limited in the number of ongoing Blurays they can handle at one time.
If that sale is still on you can get the whole lot for £15 which is well worth it while we wait for the rest of the Blurays.
The quality is leaps and bounds over their earlier dvd travesties

Another film I've never seen, but the review is up:

What a stacked disc

Hell Drivers:

is a classic and could do with the blu-ray treatment.

Not a Network release, but the new Studio Canal blu of Payroll is fantastic too. Not much in the way of extras, but the film looks great.

This is the heaviest discounting Network have ever offered.
Prices are ludicrously low but unfortunately some key titles are not included, and some dvd versions are listed with no Blu in the sale.

But it's a great gap filler although I wonder how many of us are tempted to buy certain titles just because they are so low priced - titles we may never watch
