I love it. I really suck at writing reviews (usually end up with a New Testament sized ramble) but personally it's in my top 3 of his next to Blow Up and L'Avventurra with Zabriskie Point not far behind.

Just curious, but was the Criterion version of HE considered poor? Just thought it was odd that you worded this as if it hasn't gotten a proper remaster in the past.

Thanks for the update! I haven't seen too many Merchant-Ivory titles (just the three Forster adaptations), but I am a little sad that this won't be handled by Criterion. However, I am excited to finally get a copy of Maurice. I just finished reading the novel and I'm now itching to rewatch the film; luckily, my local library has a copy of the Criterion DVD.

Does anyone know the end date for the upcoming BN Sale? In the past when it started on Nov 10 it ran for 2 full weeks.

Seems to me that the B&N Criterion sales tend to last 3 weeks, so I would expect it to run through the 30th.

felt EXACTLY the same way... this was where the movie kind of lost me.

Yes, I personally felt the Criterion blu-ray release of Howards End was horrendous. Several scenes were filled with specks and other video noise, to the point that I was distracted from the story. I thought perhaps I had a defective disc until I started researching online and found that many (if not most) viewers had similar complaints ... and pertaining to the same scenes.

Howards End is one of my favorite films (I saw it first on HBO one day while I was home sick with the flu, and it was so engrossing that I forgot I was miserable!), so I was especially disappointed in the sloppy transfer, which was so atypical of Criterion's output.

Howard's End actually looks like quite a few of Criterion's earliest Blu-rays. I don't think they had completely mastered the format yet.

The last 3 years it has run through the end of the day CyberMonday. 3 weeks has been the most common length, though it was 4 weeks in 2012-2013. It's not been 2 weeks in the fall since the first year. the July sale has been a bit more variable though 3-4 weeks seem to be common once even when they had to extend the sale to do so.

2012 it was supposed to be 3 weeks ending the Monday prior to BF which had been the SOP to that point, but Hurricane Sandy disrupted the 1st 7-10 days of the sale both for the NE B&M, but also online since a lot of B&N computers and corporate structure seem to be based in NYC -- so it was extended through Cybermonday. I'm guessing it was such a big success they kept it running through that week with the nice bigger coupon discounts being available.
After the Criterion sale ended last year, didn't they have a 40% off all DVDs/blu-rays sale?

I didn't work today, but I'll be in tomorrow and so I'll see if I can get any more information on when the sale ends.

Just received my copy of The Brood! Very excited to watch it this weekend. I still HATE the cover, as much as I hated the cover for Scanners. Plus the cover for The Brood, spoils a huge part of the movie, for those that have never seen it.

Nice, I somehow never lost hope of it being a digipak, now I can forgive the mediocre art work, it looks way better in this way, and I suppose it will have more art on the inner sleeve, can you add pictures of the inside and booklet?

To be fair those that haven't seen the film aren't going to know that it spoils anything until after they've seen it. In fact, had I not already seen the film I wouldn't have known it was a spoiler had I not seen you mention it just now.
