the following pic doesn’t do the imagery even near justice but, for the record….
on the left is a Dolby Pulsar (4000 nits)….on the right, a Dolby PRM-4220 in Rec. 709 mode

and……on the far right, is the cmu working or,what some call, da brains to making it all happen....at least until the trim pass, done by da human

as, far as movies (feature films) go, i too am a traditionalist, so i side with those who prefer (at least thru years and years of visual conditioning) the 24fps *dreamy* look because it instantly transports me into the escapism of the movie world….which hfr, at least for me, hinders and for which I think brought about many of the negative reactions by audiences to the 3D 48fps version of the last two Hobbit films.

although….

there are a tiny handful of folks in the industry who remain passionate about hfr for movies and are pursuing advanced methods to make the imagery more friendly to traditional cinephiles, one of which methods involves shooting at HFR (120fps in this case) and incrementally adjusting shutter angles on the HFR footage between 72ş and 360ş, and to perform realtime frame blending, like so (download this video demo of variable motion blurring (~ 218 MB) to see dee drummer in action. https://s3-us-west-1.amazonaws.com/c...er/drummer.mov )

You mean to say Dolby vision looks "good" when Dolby shows it to people?

and with regards to live television and those who know how to enjoy their burgers -

the 4300….http://pro.sony.com/bbsc/ssr/show-4k...00_landingpage already is HDR capable, so, releasing for professional users in a matter of days, is new software for it to support S–Log3 ( https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...g#post11141568 ) which is Sony’s color grading space suggestion for HDR production.

after I made this post ( https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...r#post11433057 ) in the ‘4K Blu-ray confirmed’ thread, i'm now feeling kind of sorry for the gamer dudes, ergo, for the sake of the gamers, and of course, burger lovers - http://www.997thefox.com/articles/wh...nneys-14061880

High-Def Digest posted about Dolby Cinema and one of the demos he watched was for a wide gamut version of Inside Out:

"What's notable about this particular sequence is that, while the theatrical standard for color space is P3, this scene is the first in the history of digital projection to use the wider Rec.2020 (aka BT.2020) color gamut. It was, outside of 70mm or 70mm IMAX, possibly the best looking 2D projected imagery I've ever seen."

Did they only use doby vision equipment to master and render inside out?

e.g. HDR10 uses static metadata while dolby vision uses dynamic metadata….http://hdguru.com/dolby-vision-tries...t-bar-for-hdr/
That HDR10 video doesn't use dynamic metadata does make me wonder how well it will convert to SDR and that sounds like it could cause problems.

I haven't heard any details about how they mastered it but last month Pixar showed the wide color gamut version of Inside Out at the IBC 2015 conference.

Don't know why you're against progress. If the industry was like you we'd be still stuck with VHS on B&W TVs and 1 speaker.

Progress does not mean changing the last to make it more "modern"
And yes I hate progress obviously, these inflammatory posts are looking a little silly
I want more and better, I want 4k I however hate how HDR looks, its a preference. get it?

actually mike, i was referring to the TV’s noticeably poor onboard upscaler….nothing at all to do with the topic of HDR. i was elaborating upon the word ‘most’ in your post.
