i didn't see the movie yet on blu-ray but he said the grain has been removed, i want to see exactly what i saw in the theater and that includes grain...natural grain.
so what do you guys think? am i thinking to much into this? i just want the best for the format thats all.
To me, it doesn't matter. I loved the movie and the PQ and AQ ratings are up there, so this is a no-brainer for me. I could care less about the lack of grain.

Just my $0.02.

if you want grain pick some rice or wheat. Not everybody cares for hi def grain. I prefer a clean picture to a grainy one intentional or not.

Default Is anyone else a little disappointed with Iron Man Blu ray Features?

i find it very lackluster of Paramount not doing a Bonus View 1.1 for such a high profile release. It is just not good enough

Considering I have never excited for features, I guess no. As long as the picture and audio are good, the features are just a little cherry.

I can live without the extras as well since I never watch them. I wish they would make all the movies single disc releases and save us 5 bucks.

Whats film without the grain? Why would I want people to look like wax dolls?

How bout if you want a clear picture you can go watch some Discovery HD or ESPN football or something. Leave film be!

To the OP, I don't remember these scenes being particularly "grainy" in the theater, but hell who knows with theater calibration these days. Add to that we don't know much about the reviewer's setup, and I wouldn't be running to the "DNR!" bandwagon so fast. Oh, and Paramount's done nothing to deserve that kind of paranoia.

Ugh, see this is the entire reason people at Warner or other studios apply DNR. Film is NOT HD video, and I personally never want it to be. I have movies that are shot on HD cameras that I love (Crank, Apocalypto) but I would hate to see some of my favorites ruined because studios wanted to clean them up for J6P.

It really makes me wonder why you have an HD setup and put money into this hobby in the first place.

I put money into my setup to see a nice clean picture. If you want grain go to the theater, if you like film buy a film projector.

When I saw this in the theaters they were slight grain here and there thru out the first hour or so in the movie.I don't see why they would want to remove this from the print because it tell the story also from how Stark changed his ways...

Grain or no grain its a must buy in Blu.

this is part of a review that ign did on Iron Man Blu Ray...for the full review click the link:

Video and Presentation

The 2.35:1 widescreen format serves this film well. In keeping with the recent trend moving away from vivid, stylized images of comic-book superheroes, Iron Man offers a more natural world backgrounded by sandy browns, cool blues and neutral grays. It makes for a nice contrast against the brilliant red and gold of the Iron Man suit, once he appears in his familiar incarnation. The good news is that the colors and textures really pop on this disc. The problem with the picture, and it's not a small one, is the consistently high level of noise. While some noise is expected on a 35mm transfer like this, the level here is excessive (and evident when viewed in both DLP and LCD). When compared with recent reference quality discs such as Transformers, the difference in clarity is palpable. At least the digitally created CGI action sequences are free of the fuzz, for the most part. Still, it's a bit of a disappointment for such a highly anticipated release.

Score: 7 out of 10

I rarely look at the extras. Maybe once in a while, when I'm bored, I'll pop a disc in and see what's there. But in no way do extras ever come into the decision about buying a BD. It boils down to PQ, AQ, and is it a movie that I liked/would like to watch.

Extras just don't matter that much to me.

Yeah I'm on the same boat. Extra's are and never have been a selling point for me. I rarely watch them. I would be just as happy if the disc only had the movie on it. As long as the PQ and AQ is superb.
