I think the hold-up is that classic sci-fi nerds are not the raving maniacs that 80s horror/slasher fans are, and thus studios seem to be in no rush since they must not make good money or something. Ex, the Harryhausen flicks were quite popular on DVD I thought, but on bluray the first few releases apparently didn't sell well and now they are relegated to Twilight Time. Maybe it's that Sci-Fi nerds tend to be older and thus more content with DVDs :P

Right, but why not here and what's the hold up on War of the Worlds?
There must be a good reason so classic a movie is missing in action.

No, I'll buy it from overseas if it gets a decent review, but on another thread some folks raised questions about the quality of that companies releases. So I will wait till I know.

But is there a legal problem holding back a US release?

I wonder why Universal here in the states hasn't released some of their Sci-Fi classics on Blu? Tarantula, The Incredible Shrinking Man, This Island Earth are all out in Germany. What gives???

Last month's Eureka edition of The Man Who Could Cheat Death slipped my notice until now - here is the DVD Beaver comparison with the Legend disc.

I don't honestly see that much difference between the Legend and Eureka transfers. The Eureka might be a tad better, but I don't love the film enough to bother upgrading. I might upgrade if Eureka's THE SKULL is better than the Legend.

Same. If I didn't already have the Legend disc, I would definitely opt for the new Eureka, but at this point I have too many other titles I need to spend my money on than marginally upgrading one which is not among my all time favorites anyway.

Yep, two of the absolute classics. So many crap releases and these are MIA.

This special restored edition from the 3-D Film Archive will be released on 3-D Blu-ray by Kino Lorber Studio Classics on March 1, 2016.

Working from master left/right 35mm materials, this 3-D rarity has been beautifully restored shot-by-shot by Archive Technical Director Greg Kintz for optimum stereoscopic presentation.

Every shot in the film required up to six levels of correction. We have done extensive color restoration as the only surviving 35mm left side element is totally faded, image stabilization, flicker reduction, stereoscopic vertical alignment and left/right panel matching. With additional dirt/damage clean-up by Thad Komorowski, we are proud to present GOG looking better than ever before.

PLEASE NOTE - This original trailer has not been restored.

Same here. TMWCCD was only really worth buying to me since it came with a classic and cause I was going through a completist Hammer phase. It's certainly not BAD but it's not very interesting. The Skull, though, is great.

It looks like the German This Island Earth release is one to avoid.

I dunno what you mean, can you post a screenshot of what you're seeing? The quoted images show up fine.

...That's because I added the image via photobucket. This is what it would normally look like:

Oh, I didn't go back to the kino thread and look. I can only figure there's some weird behind the scenes thing going on with him uploading images as attachments and embedding them since he's a privileged character. Maybe he sends them to a mod or something?
