I hated that. Typical Marvel type way these days. Completely unrealistic.

- I love Luke look at the end. And am glad he didn't say anything. I felt everything was explained in his expression.

Exactly. I love the entire Saga, and really wanted to love this one too.

Yes, by far the worst opening of any SW film thus far. It wasn't even worthy of a SW opening, as they have all been awesome until now.

The most ironic thing to me is that George Lucas released statements saying "This is the movie that the fans wanted" and "To me, Star Wars was always about family", when the truth is, TFA is a better movie about family than George Lucas could ever write or understand. I don't like to come across as a Lucas hater, because he has given us so much, but I've had 30+ years to realize that the guy is a great story pitch writer and producer, and a terrible script writer and director of actors. The films speak for themselves.

[Show spoiler]If Snoke really is Darth Plagueis, it's the worst possible depiction of this legendary character, and he is supposed to be dead, or is the LOTR now? Also, that CGI character would have been shredded to bits if it had appeared in the prequels, but here hardly anyone seems to have a problem with him. How convenient.

Just as usual, Dreamworks movies always have awful trailers that make even the good ones look stupid like Minions, Madagascar or Cars, the KFP and KFP 2 trailers made an awesome job in convincing me not to watch them, it took the Nostalgia Critic to convince me to watch them and I'm glad I did, it helps that Dragon Trainer and Megamind already opened my mind a bit as I really didn't enjoy any Dreamworks movie that came after Shrek 2 before.

I don't mean now so much, as Bluyoda's only just seen the movie (like the rest of y'all) and he's got a right to express what he thinks is wrong with it (especially when they've seen it another half dozen times, just to make sure). It's when we're months, years, decades down the line: if the same complaints about Ep VII are being repeated ad nauseum by The Flannel-Shirted Worshippers in spite of being told to let it go by everyone else then the circle will be complete.

The trouble with those people is that they are completely unwillingly to entertain the notion that some people have a difference of opinion and enjoy the films. They're very childish. Which is why I suggested, years ago, that this site try experimenting with mirror threads. Have a positive and negative SW thread. You like the films, discuss in the positive thread. If you don't like them, post in the negative thread. Never shall the two meet up.
Obviously we've seen what happens going to normal route.

This is why you're having so many problems in this thread: You're not explaining any of your opinions, you're just spewing out negatives.

Why does it not stand on its own? Even people who have never seen a Star Wars movie have no problems following The Force Awakens. That's the definition of standing on its own.

If the new characters make no sense, how could they make sense, in your opinion?

Why are you insisting that this character is the same as the one mentioned in Revenge of the Sith, when no one knows yet? How is it the 'worst possible'? Have you seen all other possibilities? Worse than if it was JarJar? Can you see how that's a ridiculous statement?

"My family all thinks so too!" is not an argument. I'd like to hear more about your viewpoint, but you're coming across like a crazy person on a rant, instead of someone who is following any kind of logic.
