Everyone has their issues. If it's incorrect and it bothers you, it's a valid complaint as far as I'm concerned. I'm pretty flexible on aspect ratios myself, as long as the framing isn't significantly off.

Nineteen Eighty-Four was shown in all American theaters in the ratio of 1.85:1 and in British theaters at a ratio of 1.75:1 - very few theaters have a 1.66:1 capability and this would not have been shown that way. The transfer on the TT Blu is the director-approved color schematic and ratio.

Yeah, I should add that if the AR isn't significantly off, I can live with it. For example, movies that are released theatrically at 1.85, and then on blu-ray at the 16:9/1.78 ratio, that doesn't bother me as much, as the difference is less than .1 I just feel that the difference is enough between 1.66 and 1.85 that it bugs me

I had done some research on this, and was under the impression that it was released in Britain at 1.66. If it indeed was released at 1.75, then I will get this...thanks.

That being said, just wondering why the back of the package states 1.66 as well...just curious

I might order this, but I am becoming a bit reluctant now to order Twilight Time titles, because the last few orders I have made the discs have arrived scratched. This was never a problem with any of their titles I ordered before this year. I even ordered 2 copies of Vampires due to this issue, thinking if I ordered 2 I would have a better chance of not getting a scratched disc. How wrong I was. I am currently giving away the other TT copy of Vampires in my Christmas giveaway thread.

From the case? I haven't had a problem so far, but maybe that's because I'm in the U.S. and it doesn't have to ship so far. My copy is on the way -- I'll report back when it gets in.

They were brand new sealed copies and the cases were in perfect condition upon arrival. It will be something that has happened in the manufacturing process. The first time was with Fright Night 30th anniversary edition, the second was with Journey to the Center of the Earth remaster, and the third (well technically third and fourth since I bought 2 copies) was with Vampires. I can post up photos. I was sent another Fright Night disc by SAE but it arrived in worse condition than the first copy I received, the replacement had two scratches going right from the inner ring to the outer edge (a fellow Aussie member took it off my hands). I didn't bother contacting TT or SAE about the others after that. For $30 per disc this sort of thing shouldn't be happening, the quality control should be exceptional.

Wow! I'll be keeping a close eye on my TT purchases in the future. Yeah, I agree -- for $30, it should be pristine.

Still no shipping notification for this or Mysterious Island for me. Is Twilight Time on vacation?

I emailed them on Wednesday and was told that all orders were going to be shipped out by the end of Friday (today). Mine was lucky enough to be shipped yesterday. There was a delay with 1984 (as has been mentioned here) that was holding up orders. Hang in there!

Unfortunately, just an error that wasn't caught before the packaging went to press...

I got mine today. Condition is good with no scratches. Still not sure which audio track to watch it with though.

Default Which Track...

I find the default score to be not only dreary and maudlin (as it probably should be for this subject matter), but also drab, and just plain BORING. Try giving it a try with the Eurythmics on track 2. There's still plenty of dreariness, but there's a very subtle electronic undercurrent that flows through and keeps tension and momentum present. After watching, compare the Room 101 scenes near the end. Watch it with both tracks and just see which one serves the film and the mood best. The Eurythmics track sizzles and pops, enhancing the terror, while the default track 1 is pretty 'blah'. Plus, the third track is an amazing bonus as well, because it contains clean, clear masters of those impossible-to-find remixes of the songs that were exclusive to the film, and were not on the soundtrack album. Great job by Twilight Time!

just watched it last night. I used the Eurhythmics score and I find I enjoyed it more than the symphonic score.
over all, I say this is a solid 10/10 for me. glad I bought it.

I think I'll go with Eurythmics then -- love them. I'm curious to hear the symphonic score, but I'll do it another time.

So, which score is which? Is only the score different?

I don't remember which score I saw when this opened theatrically (saw it at the Paris in NYC on opening day).

And why does no video version contain "SexCrime"? Then again, it played after the end credits as house exit music when I saw it.

I've only seen the film with the Eurythmic score and it's fantastic. Fits the movie PERFECTLY. I'd definitely watch it this way for first-time viewers.

I have the new BluRay, so I have the ability to watch w/ the "director's cut score," but haven't done so yet. I can't see it besting the Eurythmics score though.

When I watched it the first time I just hit "play" instead of checking any options. I had assumed the Eurythmics version would be the default setting. As Lex Luthor would say, WRONG!!!

The theatrical audio should definitely be the default, that's annoying. It's also annoying how many film snobs dismiss electronic scores.

So, the Theatrical Version is the Eurhythmics score?
