And LOL at price fixing... oh brother. You seem to forget that TT also has sales of their own. but it's always easier to argue if you only include the information that supports your accusations, I guess.
actually those price dips are NOT retailer only. Criterion actually sponsors them.

and sure, 3 sales in in like 4 or 5 years??? yeah, that's TOTALLY the same on a handful of titles for double what I can get them at Criterion. sorry, facts is facts. I can get more bang for my buck at Criterion than at TT.. that's simple facts

in the comparison of TT vs. Criterion... that's just the way it is. do I have TT titles ?? yes (but then again I actually haven't paid anything for them in the long run) ..do I have Criterions??? yes, and I paid a lot less per title for them. it's just what it is. Some international sellers may not get the same deals, but TT is a U.S. company and so is Criterion, so comparing apples to apples in their home town so to speak is more accurate.

Yep, you're right. For those of you in the US, if you're a savvy shopper you can get Criterion titles for far less than a Twilight Time title. But you've been on this forum to know exactly why TT prices their items the way they do. With all of the unsold product they have and the fact they pay for everything up front, it would be a miracle if they even made any profit on their endeavour. I appreciate the fact that they release a lot of titles that would otherwise go unreleased and put together a good product, certainly far better than some of the slapdash efforts that Kino Lorber puts out on titles of a similar ilk.

All that matters is what I have to pay for things. Why does it matter what is written on some paper in someone's office? If I want a Twilight Time movie it costs me $34. If I want a Criterion it costs me $23 or so, and the Criterions are not limited and have more features usually. This makes Criterions feel like much of a value.

In the end that is literally all that matters.

Absolutely true. Unfortunately, TT releases more of the movies that I am most interested in, Hollywood movies from the 40s to 70s. I'm not crazy about their business model but I'm happy to have those movies available on blu. You pays your money and you makes your choices.

I can't speak for everyone, but, given the size of the releases, I can confidently say I speak for at least .03% for the releases I've bought, and the fact that they are limited releases has nothing to do with it.

If I want a movie, and it's on Twilight Time, and I decide it's worth the money, then I buy it. If I decide I'm OK with holding off to see if there's a cheaper release later, then I'll do that (but has any Twilight Time release been put out by someone else later?)

I don't buy movies because I think there will be resale value, or so I can show off my collection; I buy them to watch them.

That doesn't mean I don't have a dozen or two Blu-rays I haven't watched, but I will, eventually, and that's why I bought them.

Quite honestly many of the limited to 3000 titles TT offers do not sell out, and even a label like Criterion Im pretty sure many of their titles barely sell 3000 units as well. At least not that quickly as if it were limited. The point of the limited release is for people to buy them quick, and it makes good business sense in today's market. TT does do extras for their films, more than what they have done before, and they have booklets as well. When it comes to extras it really depends on the movie

This. The only reason that the "limited edition" business is even a factor for me is whether I can manage to get a BD of a film I want. As others have said, other labels probably don't generally sell any better than Twilight Time, but if they manage to run out of their initial press run on a title, they may go back to press more. TT won't, unless they work out a new deal with the relevant studio for an encore edition.

I wonder what they traded? I've been really impressed with the Sony transfers so far so I hope they're movies I really want.

I have my feeling about what might have been traded for Christine. Either way, I can't wait to see what TT has in store for us in 2016!

When that announcement of "Panic Room" happened, I figured that was one of the titles that was traded. Over the last year or so, there have been at least one or two titles a month that piqued my interest, so like you, I'm very eager to see what they have in store for the coming year.

TT can only use films from studios/labels that they have licensing deals with. Lionsgate is not one of them.
