Default Help me choose

I have a substantial DVD collection and am thinking of purchasing a Blu-ray player. My questions would be:

Should I wait? Is the technology still being fine tuned?

Which player is likely the best for playing DVDs?

Will players play different zone dvds?

Is Blu-ray also using the consumer unfriendly zone system? If so, are there all zone players available as there are for dvds?

Thanks to the better informed for your answers.

this is really a personal preference. If you love movies and enjoy the best quality, then no do not wait. Bluray is more than worth it.

Bluray profile 2.0 is already implemented so I would say yes the technology is pretty much at its peak.

Good players to consider would be the PS3, Sony BD-S350, Panasonic DMP-BD50/51

well, I think this is also another personal preference. Some like upconversion and some do not care for it. (I myself do not care for it)

I can watch my old dvd collection on my older toshiba dvd player and be happy. But playing dvd's on my PS3 is preferred since I don't have to have another dvd player connected.

Players are region coded...there is one that has been modded, but would not advise that route as its very expensive and reliability may be an issue.

zone system? as in region? yes, its region coded...but there are movies that are region free so you may still import if needed.
