I though it looked good, few things bugged me in some scenes the background did have noise/speckles crackling for a few moments, not sure what that is, but it drives me crazy. Other than that - totally worth it

Image quality on the L.A. Confidential BD is pretty good -once you get into the movie. The opening Warner Bros. logo looks pretty bad and some of the footage in the opening titles is pretty soft and flecked with some dirt and debris. It improves significantly once the movie gets going (starting with the closeup of Bud White looking out of the car following the director's credit).

The BD features the original cover art (Kim Basinger on the couch in the white gown).

I have this on order from Axelmusic.com because I couldn't wait for the UK release. I'm really looking forward to it. L.A. Confidential is still the only really great Ellroy adaptation to be made. This will be one of the few BR releases where I really want to explore the extras.

A side note for James Ellroy fans: I'm represented by the same literary agent as Ellroy, and they're currently editing BLOOD'S A ROVER, Ellroy's first novel in seven years, and the final part of the American Underworld trilogy. My agent was telling me about the book the other day, and he never raves about anything or resorts to hyperbole, but he's very excited about this one. He reckons it's the best work Ellroy's ever done. His exact words were "A f***ing masterpiece". I can't wait.

Thanks. I didn't like that red coverart that was being shown recently. Glad to see that's not on the actual release, but I am really puzzled as to where it came from.

I watched it the other night also and thought it had decent picture quality, there is film grain but that doesn't bother me.

Maybe someone at WB saw my complaints about the odd Photoshop work done to Kim Basinger's breasts on that cover. It looks like a good nomination for Photoshop Disasters.

Got my copy yesterday and just a classic movie. PQ and AQ is not the best, but obviously the best copy out there.

Well I am deeply disappointed in the PQ. Sure, it's the "best version out there". But is that enough? Not for me. I expected better than this. It's such a great film. And one of my all-time favorites. For WB to deliver something only barely better than the SD, and charge a few bucks more, is just a big F you to their customers. Sorry, that's how I feel.

How exactly do you expect this film to look?

Um, better than the SD. Like I stated above. This is just another poor release from WB.

Are you comparing the PQ to the recent DVD SE or the first SE
