What a bad idea!

What's the big deal about turning up the volume on a movie versus the volume level of games? Doesn't ever bother me on my PS3 and Onkyo 805.

I'm against this person's hopefully sarcastic remark, but he DOES have a point. If the OP got a standalone, he'd no longer have the problem, because he wouldn't be able to play games on his Blu Ray player. Sounds like the type of problem I wouldn't be able to do without.

I've experienced this even worse with Disgaea 3. I have a cheap $55 HTIB, and it doesn't keep a preset sound level. Every time I turn it on, I actually have to turn the volume down from it's base (starting) level, and I've never had to do that with another game unless I'm being conscientious of others around me. Literally, the base sound on Disgaea 3 is high enough to give me a headache after a couple of minutes....

Games are louder than movies on mine. I just got used to it. Soul Calibur 4 comes on super loud. Some of the demo icons still catch me off guard at times with high volume.

Ok i think i got the op question confused. he's asking why he doesn't have to turn up the volume for games that much, but with movies he does?
i guess thats only with some games cause like i said with gta4 i have to turn my volume to atleast -15 reletive to hear everything clearly.

Are you implying that sony made the audio capabilities of the ps3 better for games than movies?

Video games have a volume within the game. Movies do not.

On my receiver, if I set the video game volume to about 50% then the movie and the game have the same volume.

It's only the fact that the volume is always cranked on games that make them louder by default.

On mine, the movies are much lower than the games. I have to turn up the movies about +15 to get it to be the same level as the game.
