Don't let them do it!

Get a calibration disk on your own and do it yourself. You will probably see a great improvement just from that.

Also, make sure that what you are viewing is a HD source. Standard definition on your HDTV will look like junk. That's not the TV doing anything bad - just showing you how bad it looks.
