Sure, it's a low bar but I'm pretty okay with that. There's really no rhyme or reason to what will or won't capture the eye or fire the imagination.

Boba Fett was cool. At least in Empire he was.

I didn't really need to root around too deeply into the character itself or my reactions to it. I would have been more than happy to keep his stay mysterious and brief.

In movies like these? Not really. Cool look, cool voice and cool attitude is a recipe for success in a fantasy action film.

Bobba was cool in ROTJ, right up until the bit where he dies by accident.

This bit was so badass.

Eh, another dumb addition to the special edition.

I prefer Fett drawing his gun at Boush and then the respectable nod after the detonator's off. Didn't quite understand why he was standing on Jabba's bed when Luke falls through the trap door though.

Not having Boba Fett moonwalk back and forth across the screen during Jedi Rocks was a missed opportunity by Lucas in his Special Editions.

Can't forget that he tracked the Falcon and staved off Luke from his friends in Cloud City. Vader also singled him out with that "no disintegrations" as if Fett had a rep, which was cool.

I thought it was all the Bobba scenes were good until the Sarlacc pit incident...Jedi rocks was dreadful though.

Or perhaps if his jetpack was on low, he could do the skywalk....

You could argue that he didn't live up to the hype with his lack of dialogue or action, but he is a masterpiece of costume design that could arguably never be topped. He's been compared to the Man With No Name... the cool space cowboy who never speaks much, making him that much more mysterious.

He was also the first mail away action figure from the Empire Strikes Back. He was the gateway to the expansion of the Star Wars universe beyond just one single film called Star Wars.
As someone who was there, I concur that this is 100% THE CORRECT ANSWER.

I'm almost always disappointed to find out what's under the mask or helmet in movies. My imagination makes the character so much more interesting and the real thing never lives up to it. I never really needed to know what Stormtroopers or Boba Fett looked like. Not knowing was more fun. Now that we know they look exactly the same is almost as bad as Fett's exit into the Sarlaac Pit. I guess it reflects reality though as the band KISS found out when they took off the make-up. Immediately, everyone wanted them to put it back on. My only exception to this was when Luke took off Vader's helmet. The scarring and pale skin made him more intriguing.
Otherwise, I'm happier not knowing too much about most of these characters. I also found Kylo to be a disappointment as well. Hopefully, they don't make the same mistake with Capt. Phasma.

Mace Windu was also first mail-away figure for the prequels. He didnt live up to potential either in movies. Both Boba and Mace were awesome in their first cartoons only (Christmas Special and Gennady's Clone Wars)

I've never really understood why Boba Fett is so adored. I'm all for cool and mysterious characters but I wouldn't even call him cool and mysterious. When I think of a character that barely says anything yet has great on-screen presence, I think of Michael's bodyguard in The Godfather Part II.

Oh, I don't know...I thought there were parts where Mace Windu lived up to his reputation.

Agree on both accounts, but I remember reading somewhere (or it may have been the GF2 director's commentary) that the reason Michael's bodyguard was mostly silent was because the actor had a squeaky voice, lol. We are talking about the same guy? The fella who, in the end of GF1, dresses up as a cop and guns down the Mafia boss on the steps?

FYI Team Negative1 finally released their 2K scan of a 35mm Star Wars print. It looks glorious.

Gonna have to rewatch the original trilogy this weekend.

Nah, the chap in the second one who tries unsuccessfully to smother Roth in his hospital bed. I think I know the guy you're referring to, though. At the very least, I can picture him in the context of the scene you're referring to.

I'm itching to re-watch the trilogy...

EDIT: I take it you mean Al Neri? This is the one I was talking about.

You do realize that there were photos of Kylo unmasked before the movie came out, right? Didn't you even know what Adam Driver himself looked like?

Agreed; its the one change I have a genuine beef with. Every time I watch "Return of the Jedi", I have to speed through it.

Oh yes, got you. The gentleman you're referring to is the older guy with the hat? He really was a very threatening presence. I got my wires crossed with Neri and the fella you were talking about.

I haven't seen the GF trilogy since 2009 if I remember correctly. It's long overdue a watch.

It was much cooler when he was a badass monosyllabic bounty hunter. Once we found out that he was a clone and his dad was involved in an elaborate clone conspiracy, he lost a lot of his mystique. And his voice, thanks to Lucas.
