This rare early 1937 recording in mono is their first ever recording of the famous Fantasia Mickey Mouse-segment "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" and is a bit different than the later version recorded for the film.

How does $16.00 sound for this set without the DVD's and no slipcover? It comes with it's original case and artwork though.

Positive this will come back maybe even next year, wonder if it'll be part of the "new" line or if they'll squeeze one last Diamond Edition out by officially giving it that branding.

Just bought it for 19 dollars including shipping from a third party seller amazon listed in very good condition lets hope it is since amazon can be a real can of worms sometimes. I have had good luck with this seller the last 2 times I have used them though.

That is a good price for fantasia still right?

Given that used copies on Amazon start at $27 plus $3.99 shipping, that seems like a good deal!

I have the sorcerers apprentice on 16mm film, I wonder which mix they used. Likely the newer recording but ill double check

Got my copy in the mail yesterday came with a pretty mint slip cover and looks pretty much untouched overall. Pretty happy with the purchase for 19 dollars.

Just bought a brand new copy at eBay for $16.xx with slipcover. Just to make sure it wasn't a fake I compare it to the other high price listings which looks the same. Plus the seller has a 100% rating.

Too bad the rest of the good bonus features are only available on the BD-Live feature which is now unavailable. Should have been all on disc in the first place.

I just bought the Fantasia Legacy DVD which originally came in a box set when Fantasia 2000 was released. It has 2 hours and 41 min of special features from both Fantasia and Fantasia 2000. Picked it up for $6.99.

I also just bought the Fantasisa 2 movie collection bluray on eBay with slip, but for $28. You got a great deal.

Wow. $6.99 for the whole 3-Disc Legacy set is great deal. I might hunt that down then for a good price.

Yeah I thought it was a great deal too. It's like $40+ with slip. Never seen both films completely only parts of it.

The thing is that all of the special features are on the disc. As long as you have the ability to play the discs through a computer, you're able to open the files.

Luckily, I held on to my Legacy Collection DVD set, as I don't have the ability to play BDs on my computer. I'm fine with having the DVD sets for the special features and the BDs for the films.

Unfortunately, Fantasia (and Fantasia 2000) is the only title on an even more exclusive 10 year cycle:

VHS & LD: 1990
DVD: 2000
DVD & BD: 2010
BD & UHD BD: 2020

Only due to unlucky timing. The Fantasia Anthology is essentially the first Platinum title, and was more in keeping with the Collector's Editions of A Bug's Life, Tarzan, and Toy Story/Toy Story 2. Gold Collection was very bland in terms of bonus features. Fantasia Anthology was through the roof. The next year, Snow White kicked off the Platinum line. Fantasia was part of the Diamond line -- the disc even self-identifies as Fantasia: Diamond Edition -- but the planned Spring release was cancelled for unknown reasons. When it came out at Christmas, the advertised contents had changed. Fantasia World was gone, Destino was in, and the bonus features used to promote BD-Live.
