with this being scheduled to be released in about a month, I wonder two things. why haven't we seen anything about the steelbook/ATMOS release for this season. also, why haven't we seen anything about season 3 & 4 steelbook.

should I be worried that they are not going to release seasons 3,4,5 or anyone of the future seasons in the steelbook editions? it would be ashamed considering they release 2 seasons already to potentially now not release all of the rest in steel.

The season 3 & 4 steelbook pre-orders are up on Amazon Italy, release date is 15th June 2016. I guess this will be released in other territories at the same time.

In the U.S. "The Final Step" Bonus Feature appears to be on it's own disc (unclear on whether it's BD or DVD) for the Barnes & Noble* Exclusive release (submission for this entry to the Blu-ray.com database has already been made, approval pending).

So it would appear that WM or BB will have the Visual Effects of Season 5 segment. As before, the Amazon UK edition with exclusive Bonus Disc contains all 3 of these segments: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Game-...lu-ray/148393/

* Yeah, I didn't guess that B&N would be the one to score this either.

ETA: I have a link to the B&N exclusive, but it's not working for some reason? I've tried several times, but it's not happening. Sorry.

Season 6 better step it up a notch or they might lose me.

But yeah, I question the Emmys for giving this season, of all seasons, the Best Drama and Dinklage shouldn't have gotten Supporting Actor over Jonathan Banks, but I'm not disappointed with it where I'd completely swear off buying the set or giving up on the show.
For me Season 5 was a great season-not outstanding mind you-but great. It had never won Best Drama before so better now than to keep it waiting. It was waaaaay overdue.

The Dorne storyline was lacking in certain respects, but it was a minor subplot in an otherwise stellar season. In many ways, it was my favorite (though you can't really beat Season 4).

The fact that they should have been winning the Emmy every other year as well doesn't take away from the fact that I think they absolutely deserved it for Season Five.

Ya i played a Atmos on my 5.1 system and the bit rate is much higher then regular so it sounds alot better with more punch . It down converts it to 5.1 or 7.1 True HD but the bit rate remains the same.

Season Five was easily my least favorite season so far.

I can't imagine anyone thinking it was better than 2, 3 or 4.

...but that's just me.

If anything, the opposite is true. You take a 5.1 or 7.1 and play it back on an Atmos system, some of the signal is going to wind up in the four height channels with their own amplifier channels. That's going to reduce overall distortion.

On the other hand, as with any mix-down, phasing artifacts can cause cancellations, but it all depends upon how the Dolby processing is handling the four extra channels when the speaker channels aren't there.

Season 2 has some of the best moments in the series imo.

The Blackwater episode might be the GOT GOAT.

Then you have the beautiful scenes in Iceland with the Night's Watch going North of the Wall.

The scenes between Arya and Tywin Lannister are some of the best written of the show imo.

Ditto for the scenes in which Tyrian assumes political control of King's Landing.

I always enjoyed Rob Stark's King of the North story line with the battles and the quest for revenge and other things of that nature.

And the last scene of the season with the
[Show spoiler]White Walkers
is chilling.

It does suffer some during Daenerys' excursion into Qarth, but not enough to matter in the end imo.

I've pre-ordered this at Amazon for $39.99 and since it is over $35, I qualified for Free Shipping. Now, if this decreases to below $35 before release date, will I still get free shipping?? Anyone here had experience with this lately at Amazon?

In that situation I've always gotten free shipping before. But the situation hasn't happened in the last few months.

If you get free shipping at the time of your order, you'll get free shipping even if it drops below the $35 threshold.
