Started to watch this the other day, I only got to about half way through the film before i had to do something else.

I thought that the first might have been the best film, stylistically speaking, of last year but having heard how much the second half fails to live up to the first i think i might just view it as a extraordinary short film. Is the second half worth watching?

For me certainly. It's not as funny, and satirically the focus is uncertain, but the film reaches the hight of it's irony in the second hour, and by that point, I wanted to find out what would happen to the characters. And the final scene is pure cringe, not a single person in the screening I was in could sit still through it, everyone was squirming in their seats.

You probably saw the best thing about it. In a way feel glad you stopped half way through as it looses itself completely in the second half. I doubt I'd watch it again but probably in the near future I can give it another chance.

I watched it a couple of nights ago, and it sounded fine to me. The picture is stunning too!.

I take it you are used to 23.976fps audio now and not PAL 25fps speedup any more, yes?

Of course!. I didn't see The Lobster theatrically, so I have nothing to compare it to, but I'm familiar with the main actors voices, and none of them sounded off at all.

I remember when I first watched my French Blu-ray of Dead Ringers, it was immediately obvious to me that the pitch was higher than my Criterion DVD, because Jeremy Irons voice was a little higher.

I liked the second half as much as the first half. It flipped the perspective of the first half, which I found just as fascinating.

I think the satire is in the same place throughout the film, just in the first half you think it's satirizing/criticizing relationships when it's really not at all.

It DID feel like a two-hour sketch! There was a lot I enjoyed about The Lobster but I wouldn't watch it again. I appreciate it's shallow and repetitive by design but irony is the only thing differentiating it from a film that's shallow and repetitive by accident and by the second hour I was suffering from irony fatigue.

It would have worked brilliantly as a series of 5-10 minutes sketches - if I sit down to watch a 2-hour film I need character development... an engaging plot... something to give my continued involvement a sense of purpose. Cynicism heaped on cynicism heaped on cynicism has a sort of deadening effect. My psyche didn't know how to respond to such an aggressively superficial film... It was a cold film that left me cold.

I've been really wanting to see this movie for a while now, and on the amazon.uk site, it says it is region restricted. On this site, however it says the movie will play on region A and B blu ray players. can anyone confirm that it will play on a region A blu ray player, before i buy it? thanks

I don't want to be 'that' guy, but if that is your opinion of the film, then you really didn't 'get' it.
