Good to know, Robert! I've grown tired of a few people that continue to drone on "wait until 8K comes along, it will be a revolutionary upgrade. 4K is only evolutionary", and your comments seem to indicate if anything the opposite.

SD to HD was the only "revolutionary" upgrade IMHO. Everything else will be "evolutionary" until a whole new TV format comes along.

Looking at AVSFORUM it looks like this player has all sorts of major video quality glitches, especially in the advanced video features. Further, it apparently does not work with IR blasters as it uses some proprietary IR coding. A lot of people returning and waiting for Panasonic.

A guy with a Marantz posted the info screen, which I use a lot to see what is exactly coming in.
Blu-ray Deep color off 8 bits Deep color on 12 bits UHD Deep color off 10 bits Deep color on 12 bits This is exactly as I would expect. And Deep Color should not have to be on with a UHD disc for HDR and WCG. |

HDR with all of its additional accompanying upgrades is a very significant advancement and is a complete redesign of the TV system. -Robert |

But the hyperbolic nature of that post was strong. HDR is a grading choice not everyone will adopt and will not suit all content |

You cannot take away the fact that the black bands make the image smaller. That's why I feel films framed at 1.78 are bigger and badder than the smaller 2.35 image (plus 3D looks more immersive in 1.78. Look at James Cameron's Avatar and Titanic in 1.85 without much cropping from the sides). The BIGGER the image, the better 4K looks!

I don't think the problem is my 78" js9500. I wish they packaged exodus 3d bd w the 4k. What is point of having 4k and bd?
