Yeah, I think you are going to need more sub than what you are currently looking at if you want the impactful bass you were describing. Plus, if you think the PB10-NSD is big, take a look at the sub JohK and I have. I have pics of it in my sig.

I bought the step up(20-39 PC+) since my home theater is in the living room and it opens up into other areas. Good thing I did too!
