As far as obtaining a copy of this release, since Amazon hasn't cancelled orders and are still promising fulfillment, I see no reason to doubt them yet. The price also keeps moving up and down. It should be pretty easy to figure out if there's more stock or if it's all sold out at the wholesale level.

It's probably sold out at wholesale. The FUNimation Shop ran out ages ago, and nearly everyone else has had it out of stock for months.
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/ency...s.php?id=28194 Amazon can take forever to figure out something is gone. They still think Steins;Gate Part 2 will come back when it's available only at the FUNimation Shop at this point, and it's been that way for months upon months upon months (We're going to near a year here of them thinking it'll come in-stock). |

Thats what I was worried about. Amazon takes forever in figuring things out. THought I would take a chance and put an order in. Its probably gone. I still have some hope. How long does it take for amazon to cancel an order? And what if you used a gift card?

Given the OOP nature of the set, I wonder if maybe Rightstuf has a supply of replacement disks or if they cannibalized another set. |

Glad it worked out simple enough for you. My situation was different as it was an aniplex release that arrived with damage to the slip box and the actual bluray case was also broken and I could hear something rattling around so I didn't even open it.

So, I have been checking amazon daily to see if DTB s1 came back in stock. Yesterday it said In Stock in March 3rd. I go back today and it says Temporarily OOS. Not sure if amazon made a booboo. Or the copies thet got in are already going to be shipped out. I put my order in on Febuary 4th. My order statement still says Pending shipping date. Very worried now since its OOP.

This was what I did. Had it in about 3 days and no damage to the package or discs. It was about $20 more, but better that now than $200 down the line.

I might do just that. I already have it on DVD and fits in the ltd season 2 set I was able to snag. But I really would like to have it on blu-ray. I was trying not to spend too much at the moment as I just purchase Fate: UBW

Was lucky enough to snag a copy of Darker than Black Premium edition off amazon for 48.99 plus shipping. Got it in the mail today. New but some damage to the box, which I expected. Corner and side binding a little bent. Just glad to get a copy. I honestly hate the packaging So flimpsy and feels cheap. Plus I dislike how the blurays sit in the package. But I am happy to have it on bluray. Will probably move the discs to a seperate case though.

Kept hoping for a standard release, couldn't bring myself to buy the crappy premium packaging. Now that it's oos and oop, I don't regret getting in on it, it has to be one of the worst 'premium' packaging I've seen in recent memory.

Some of us bought the DTB PE Blu-ray set and just Frankensteined the discs into the Season 2 LE Chipboard box set. I only wanted the Blu-ray discs from the set, and iirc there were art cards in there too, weren't there? The packaging itself can go rot in the local landfill.

There was also an art book that was too flimsy and included the art on those art cards. Yeah the packaging was terrible, especially when 99% of copies arrived with loose discs, some scratched (SCRATCHED BLU-RAYS?!!). Others had the misfortune of getting glue stuck to the discs. Really hurts that this later ended up being the only release still in-print, then the license expired because Aniplex wouldn't let FUNi renew it, and now the show is likely OOP permanently as AoA probably won't get it. Yet another one of FUNi's fails.
Too bad it took a little longer for FUNi to stop with these crappy more expensive sets, and get to things people would actually want, like the Tokyo Ghoul and FMA CE's. Those have actual packaging, and actual digipaks with plastic hubs, cardboard does not cut it. Even Square-Enix understands this. My Final Fantasy X/X-2 CE, the digipak is combined with the artbook, but it has very sturdy plastic hubs. The game disc and Blu-ray with the soundtrack aren't going to be going anywhere. |

I agree. I took the blurays out and put them in my season 2 Ltd set. Also kept my DVD set just in case. Worse packaging ever. You can barely get the art cards out. The artbook is kinda cool but so think and flimpsy. Glad FUNi got their act together and fixed the PE packaging later
