Well, if I upgrade I will make sure that I hold onto my current copy so that I can decide for myself.

It would be great of the special features are good because I really haven't seen any of the special features regarding this film. I've always had bare bones copy of the film and so all of the special material will be new to me.

I watched my copy of the Beast Within tonight that I got from eBay the other day. Hadn't seen it in years, didn't remember much about it. It was a lot better than I remembered, I couldn't believe how well it still holds up. Some of the effects were wonky and dated in certain shots, but they were still as awesomely gory and gross looking as they were 34 years ago Some aspects are perhaps a little silly, mainly that the plot is about a teenage boy who turns into a Cicada, but it still remains as a cleverly effective creepy horror film

Still would like to see some possible Scream double candidates get released this year.
Slumber Party Massacre 2&3 (naturally)
Lost Skeleton Returns Again / Dark and Stormy Night

Having projected the film numerous times, the older MGM version is the more accurate presentation, despite what some people here continue to say. But the Shout has the extras, so having both is the way to go... just don't watch the terrible contrast-boosted, dirty print Shout version.

The claims that the MGM is "dark" is also false. It is darker, but there are several scenes, like the opening sequence, that are actually the same or brighter than the Shout. But it was always supposed to be dark. But for a new 2K scan, there is zero uptick in fine detail on the Shout. In fact, due to Shout's terrible encoding, there's actually less detail throughout.

Who else thought they did a great job on Jack's Back? it looks better than any bootleg DVD fans held on to waiting for an official DVD or better, BD.

Those Texas extras sound awesome even the new HD remastering, good thing i don't own the original BD as i sold my old 2006 DVD to get this.

The Crush, oh i haven't seen that in a long time. Those Death Becomes Her extras sound nice as i am a Zemeckis fan and hope Manhunter has new HD transfer of theatrical cut.

They did a great job on Serpent and The Rainbow so far.

The special features are great. And of course the superior PQ is a plus, you will most likely sell off or give away the overly dark MGM edition like I did.

"Jack's Back" is a good one. The film is certainly elevated having an actor the quality of James Spader in the lead role. The BD looks very good. I remember watching it about 7 or 8 years ago on TV and thought it was one of the more overlooked thrillers of the 80s. I'm glad it held up on rewatch.

I recently watched the Scream release of "White of the Eye". It's a fascinating movie with an absolutely stunning conclusion. It's definitely more of an art-house horror film, very unlike most 80s horror movies. There's zero camp or cheese factor. It's probably one of the better made films that Scream has released. David Keith and Cathy Moriarty both give very strong performances. It's definitely not a movie I'd recommend to everyone as the slow pace may be a turn off for some, but I thought it was an outstanding film and a great release from Scream.

I've been on the fence with White of the Eye, cause I'm not sure what to make of it. When I hear "art-house horror film", it makes me think it'll be boring. Does it even qualify as a thriller?

It definitely qualifies as a thriller. It's a pretty creepy film to be honest. It just is very different from any other horror/slasher film I've ever seen. It's deliberately paced to be sure and there aren't a ton of kills in it either. But the way it's shot is hypnotic. It's a very well-made movie with great acting, which separates it from a lot of slashers. It also doesn't have that cheese factor which a lot of people love from the slasher genre.

It's a really bizarre, surreal film. It's one of those rare movies that can't really be compared to any other film. But, fair warning, it's also one of those that I could imagine being very polarizing. Some may find it tedious, while others will love it.

Same Here! I posted about it periodically for over a year in the Scorpion thread hoping that maybe it would help bring this about, but sadly no luck.

Since they already released Nosferatu the Vampyre, I hope to see Shadow of the Vampire from Scream at some point or another

I'm assuming a lack of usable elements.
