Default Will HBO ever release OZ on Blu?

I've been wanting to rewatch this, any chance it'll make it's way onto Blu?

I myself am waiting for HBO's "Carnivale", "Six Feet Under", "In Treatment", "The Wire", "The Sopranos" (S. 2-5) and "Big Love".

I don't think The Wire will get Blu Ray treatment , but they really should bring the complete sopranos set to blu ray , best tv show ever made for me

I would love for this be be released on bd. This was the show that really put HBO on the map for dramas. And the cast was just great. Because of this show I will never think of JK Simmons the same again.

Love OZ! The DVD's look pretty awful. Would probably re buy it on Blu-ray if it would be a true upgrade in PQ.

I finally got around to watching "Carnivale" this year. Why did HBO have to pull the plug on it? It was quite an enjoyable show.

It was one of the most expensive shows airing at the time and the ratings just weren't there. Here's an interview with Daniel Knauf:

I hope so.

No news on this I take it?

Since the The Sopranos Blu-ray is out now, hopefully they will work on releasing Oz next.

Just found out that "The Wire" got a remastered HD/widescreen release for iTunes or whatever, so I assume a Blu-ray for that is coming.

This is pretty cool. I thought that that show was shot in 4x3 SD or something.

Maybe they will do this for Oz.

There's been a thread for The Wire Blu-ray since December:

There's not enough prison rape on TV.

...it's a shame.

HBO has become very cognizant of the fact that their consumers want their shows on BD in complete series sets. See the release of the following within the last 12 months alone:

-True Blood Complete Series Set
-The Sopranos Complete Series Set
-Boardwalk Empire Complete Series Set
-The Wire Complete Series Set

I wouldn't be surprised if Oz is remastered and released in a similar manner in the near future -- unlike some other studios *cough*Fox*cough*, HBO seems to be well aware that there is a market for this type of product. I'm more than willing to bet, though, that we'll see a release of Six Feet Under and/or Sex and the City, first. They were bigger shows in terms of popularity.

Nothing new to report here, but I just wanted to bump this thread because of this recent retrospective article on Oz. Hard to believe the series is 20 years old this year:

https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/3...ged-tv-forever

I never watched Oz when it was originally on (never had HBO/cable), but did catch some episodes on DVD off & on over the years. Back in 2014, I made a point of watching the entire series. Wow. Extremely powerful, horrific, bleak, and disturbing documentary-like series that seemed (and probably was) a realistic look at the prison system. One of my favorite sequences in the show (that I think was in every episode) was when the character in the wheelchair (Harold Perrineau) had a monologue about prison system facts - very informative & educational, and also depressing. I definitely find this series a lot more realistic & bleaker than more current shows like Orange is the New Black (which is an intentional dra-medy) or the reality show 60 Days in (which seems intentionally sanitized).

I would definitely be all for this show on Blu, but am not sure it will ever happen. The DVD's are acceptable, but it would be nice to see this great series in high-def.
