Pop wasn't my favorite album of theirs by far but did have some good tracks that came from it. I would disagree though about them going downhill from there, I felt No Line on the Horizon was their best work since Achtung Baby. Their last album was quite good too.

It's true if you think Monsanto Corporation makes the world a better place.
That said, I won't let Bono's recent conversion to corporatism affect my love of the band's music. Pre-ordered this when the links first were announced, can't wait...the Rose Bowl video is just awful with all the processing and it looks like this will be nice, clean HD and a far superior setlist IMO. ![]() Last edited by dobyblue; 05-24-2016 at 11:43 PM. |

In my opinion, none of them top the album versions. |

PopMart wasn't a bad show, before the band came out into the crowd up in Vancouver, the band members waited out into a corridor all in costume. There were no fans around them so my friend and I walked in and stood next to them, a small 3-foot high concrete barrier between us. We chatted with them briefly as they waited there, Bono dressed as a boxer started shadow boxing for us. There were security and police there but for some reason none had an issue with the two of us standing next to the band chatting with them as they waited for their queue to head out onto the floor into the crowd to get to the stage. When they did, I said to my friend "Well, let's do it" and we proceeded to walk behind the band, all the way to the stage, and nobody bothered to stop us. For a brief moment we got to see and feel what the band sees every night on their tour. Last edited by Kinsella5; 06-11-2016 at 06:08 AM. |

Went on my lunch break to Best Buy to pick up a copy. They had 5 total copies on the shelf. BB has it priced at $21.99 in-store but the guy at customer service price matched it for me at $17.99.

I'm guessing it's because the short film/video for Every Breaking Wave in the bonus materials has a lot of F-bombs in the dramatic narrative. The concert itself doesn't have anything other than toward the end when the lead singer for the Eagles of Death Metal drops one F-bomb.

I got this today with free one day shipping via Amazon Prime after I couldn't find it at several local Best Buys. Watched the main concert and skimmed through some of the bonus stuff.
First off, for those that saw the "live" broadcast on HBO, this home video release is an entirely different cut of the show. Most of the camera angles are different then the HOBO broadcast but fortunately the awful rapid-fire cutting that plagued previous Hamish Hamilton directed U2 concert videos is somewhat less prevalent in this release. The picture quality is also vastly superior and the sound mix is better then the broadcast, though the mix is still a bit tame on the drums and Edge's guitar. One thing that's a great addition that wasn't included on the HBO broadcast was the off/understage footage during the "Fly" video screen intermission that shows Bono actually sang live vocals over the pre-recorded track while he was getting cleaned up. I saw two shows from this tour and while I'm not a fan of the album, I have to say the new songs translated much better in the live setting and the home video is a great representation of the show. The extras include several different songs from the other Paris shows this tour which is a nice touch although the band played about 20 other songs this tour just a handful of times that would have been nice inclusions as well. There's also the promo videos and a couple docs about the tour and making the clips. Overall, a very good document of the tour, far superior to the 360 Tour Rose Bowl home video (I was at that show). |

I mean, I'm a HUGE Pearl Jam fan (tied with Zeppelin for my all-time favorite band), and I enjoy all their albums, but if they started putting out music I didn't like, I wouldn't keep buying their music. Simple as that... |

Just to let interested people know : both tracks (LPCM 2.0 and DTS HD MA 5.1) are 96/24. The 5.1 track hoovers between 8 and 9 Mbps almost constantly.
EDIT : after a look at a few songs, I'm slightly disappointed by the audio which lacks a bit of punch. The mix is rather good, giving a good 360° sound environment, but Bono's voice is slighlty drowned in the rest of the track, and like Partyslammer, I found the drums to be a bit too tame. The bass though is pretty good. PQ wise, it's nice though not particularly astounding. It has a rather smooth aspect with a at-times low-key visual, with close ups of the various members faces (well, mostly Bono) and not a lot of things around them or in the background. Facial details are good, but there isn't a lot of other things to look at. Not sure if it's a cause or a consequence, but the video bitrate doesn't go high very often. It goes down very often (especially during long shots) to below 10 Mbps, going as low a 5 Mbps at 34 min. It peaks rather normally (30 Mbps) but as a whole, average bitrate is rather low. It at least has part to do with the 2 96/24 tracks to accomodate. It also certainly has to do with having a 144 min gig on the disc + 90 min of additional HD content. As a comparison, Muse - Live at Rome Olympic Stadium also has LPCM 2.0 96/24 and DTS HD MA 5.1 96/24 tracks, but it has almost the same disc space allocated (30,055,655,424 bytes for Muse, 30,859,972,908 bytes for U2) despite being 48 min shorter. EDIT 2 : Code:
