Yeah. I figured. Not to mention Hollywood itself is pretty scruffy. I lived in North Hollywood, which is obviously a completely different place.

LA has all the happy shiny good looking people. So I fit right in.

HAHA! Yeah, no.

Believe me, there are lots of shiny good looking people in L.A. In CERTAIN parts of L.A. Most of L.A., however, is gangs, waiters trying to sell a screenplay with no real hope of ever doing so, and strippers.

Now, sure, if you go to a cafe in Beverly Hills and kick back while downing your espresso? Yeah. You see people who spend $3,000 on a pair of shoes. But that's not L.A. as most people live it.

I'll tell you, if I ever moved back to L.A., I'd move to Santa Monica. It's so gorgeous. The ocean is right there. It's awesome.

Now, if you're really looking for shiny good-looking people, there's one place, and place only to go: Paris, France. It's like everyone's constantly going to some high-level get-together. Every guy is dressed perfectly, every woman is thin, gorgeous, and wearing the most amazing clothes. Paris is where it's at.

I was actually roommates with a stripper once for a few months. She wasn't particularly fond of her job, but she made a lot of money. She was trying to be an actress. Like everyone else in L.A.

She was a nice gal.

Oh god no. I couldn't act my way out of a paper bag if my life depended on it. Though, I suppose, I could probably act better than I could sing, since I have no sense of pitch whatsoever.

I was a waiter for the majority of the time I was in L.A. It paid the bills -- rather nicely, actually. Come to think of it, every time I've been a waiter I made a decent amount of money. Hmm. Thinking ...

Living with some friends for the hell of it. I had never been to California, and didn't intend to stay too long. As it turned out, I was there for two years. Work. Party. Watch TV. Hang out. Have crepes in Beverly Hills. You know, Cali stuff.

Honestly? It's quite tempting. But not sure I could afford it. But I've given it thought, believe me. As weird and bizarre a place as L.A. is (why do think so many tripped-out films like Mulholland Dr. are set there?) it is a cool place to live.

Of course, I'd need to get a driver's license again. Hmm. Maybe I'd just get a Vespa. Who the hell wants to mess around with a car?
